I read a lot of reviews and visited several stores when I was looking for my son's new bike. He is 3 but very tall. About 46", so the 14" bikes were too small and the 18" were too big, so there is not a lot to choose from in the 16" category. Well needless to say, this bike is a winner. Very well made, sturdy and safe. Definitely not some movie IP knock-off (as in Cars or Spiderman). I removed a star because it would have nice if it came with pads for the handlebar and the mid support bar. We had to find those ourselves. Also, a more minor note, the reflector light for the front is the wrong kind which we also had to replace. It shipped in a very compact box so it was surprising to see such a small box at the front door! I was able to put it together in less then 30 minutes.

I asked lots of people about boys bikes before settling on this one. My boys (age 4 and 5) were coming from 12" bikes by Huffy and Kawasaki. Both of those had issues, primarily the lack of torque on the pedals. The older kid kept pushing so hard on the pedals (mostly from pedaling while standing) that the chain came off. EVERY DAY. This one is much better constructed and the mechanics a better fit. The boys both love it (I've got a 20" on order for the older kid, who is almost six and TALL). The training wheels are good quality, and the frame is a tad lighter than lesser brands. As for assembly - it's more of an intuitive process than follow the generic 50 page instruction book. Even my tech-saavy husband messed up: he put the front fork on backward, and was happy with it until I showed him a picture showing otherwise. Just be patient with it - or take it to a bike shop. I really like how low the seat adjusts on this bike - the four year old is just over 40" tall - but the seat on the lowest setting is just right for him. (The five year old is 48" and I wouldn't keep him on a bike this size for too much longer - he looks gangly on it).

This is a very nice bike! It's my son's 1st bike and fits him well...he's about 40 inches tall and I was on the fence about the 16-inch bike size but it's a great fit with plenty of room to grow. Assembly was pretty easy and took about 45 minutes.

Overall this bike was easy to assemble and very sturdy, but there are a couple of issues we can't seem to get around so our 4.5 year old son doesn't really enjoy this bike. For one, the training wheels are prone to loosening and shifting positions after only a short ride, thus the bike tips from side to bike leaving my son feeling very insecure. The other is that the pedals seem to be too high off the ground. If we lower the seat so that he can reach the ground, his legs are scrunched up. If we raise the seat to a suitable height for pedaling, he doesn't even come close to touching the ground. Our friends with other models of bikes do not have this problem. Very frustrating. My son is fairly tall for his age, so the 12" bike is just too small. He is a pro at his tricycle and balance bike, so pedaling and steering and balancing aren't an issue. After asking around our other parent friends and trying out their kids' bikes, we are left assuming the bike is the problem. However, it may work for a taller kid who does not need to use training wheels. May be best as a second bike.

My son loves this bike. He rides it well without the training wheels, and it looks great. It's sturdy, and goes fast enough for his taste.

Bought this bike for my son for his fourth birthday. We wanted a bike he could grow into, and this is it. It was pretty easy for my husband to assemble, and he'll be able to ride this for a few years!
