5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star now that there are instructions
You can read what I first wrote below, but I've come back on to revise this, because this bike (while difficult to get help from company for instructions) ended up being a fantastic quality, so I feel I should let people know it was worth the pain! I got four very expensive bikes for my kids last Christmas, but this one (for my then 2 year old and now she's 3) is just so...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great bike, pain to assemble
As I write, there are two other reviews posted. One says it's a great bike (5 stars); the other says there are no instructions and it's not obvious how to assemble it (2 stars). Both are correct. If you're not handy, figure a lot of time, trial, and error (or a trip to the bike shop) to put this together. When you're done, though, you'll have a girly, yet sturdy bike...

You can read what I first wrote below, but I've come back on to revise this, because this bike (while difficult to get help from company for instructions) ended up being a fantastic quality, so I feel I should let people know it was worth the pain! I got four very expensive bikes for my kids last Christmas, but this one (for my then 2 year old and now she's 3) is just so smooth and nice to ride. She is the youngest of the bikers, and one would think she'd be the wobbliest, but she looks so comfortable when riding compared to some of my older kids whose bikes seem to tilt onto their training wheels in a funny way, or whose wheels are too narrow to make the ride smooth, etc. I wish I would have bought this version only bigger for all of them. It is a beautiful bike.
(Original post- now obsolete:: I felt I had to warn people that this little bike comes with absolutely no instructions for how to put it together, and it is in MANY pieces. Without instructions I don't even know if I've received all the pieces to put together, how could I? I may try my hand at figuring this out, but at this price, I feel I should have a bike that I know is well put together, and without instructions I may never feel safe. Therefore I'm probably going to be out the cost of taking this to a bike shop for them to put it together for me, and if I have to do that, I should have just bought a bike available there to begin with. Thank goodness I did not open this box the night before Christmas- what a nightmare!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A sleek girlie bike, November 26, 2009

My 3 year olds first new bike for her birthday. She loves it and it's adorable. I love the fact it has black wheels so they don't get that dirty white look from use. The color and design and perfect. I do need to warn that the paint is baked enamel and our first time out she fell down and chipped the handlebars (my fault). The manufacturer does not carry matching paint so you need to go find paint supplier for a match. Other than that, we still love it, chips and all.

The fat booklet that seems to be mostly safety warnings may be required by the liability lawyers, but a brief guide gto assembly would have been far more useful.

1.0 out of 5 stars MIssing Parts, July 17, 2010

We were incredibly frustrated that this bike arrived with only one pedal and a missing steering column. The box arrived incredibly damaged and had several holes. For spending this kind of money on a children's bike, I would have expected better quality control. We are saddened that our daughter's birthday is tomorrow and she won't be getting a new bike.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bike to learn on, January 30, 2010

This is a solid well built bicycle. It took under 30 minutes to assemble. Our almost 3 year old daughter jumped on and took off. She had no problems whatsoever. We originally bought a cheaper bike and it was flimsy and wobbly thus hard for her to manuever. Even though it was half the price, we returned that one. This Diamondback bike is worth the money. Plus baby sister should be able to use in a couple years because all the parts are metal and good quality. It is important for small kids to learn on a good bicycle and build up confidence. Plus it is the best looking bike I've ever seen - super cute! Love the black tires with pink rims.

I have Twin Grand-daughters,so I bought two of these bikes, which was good in one respect, because between the two I could tell what was wrong....The first one the carton was in terrible shape,no instructions and no tools and some nuts missing. But the second one contained ...tools,instructions and extra nuts and a bolt.(so much for quality control)...But the handle bars were all chipped, really bad,if they weren't for Easter I would have sent the one back, plus it was all grease..I went to the local hardware store and they matched the paint for touch-up....My advise need one-buy two to make sure

4.0 out of 5 stars Requires fine tuning, January 12, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The bike is mostly assembled. It seems like they tighten everything down for shipping. Consequently, it takes a little finesse and know how to get it operating smoothly.

The bike is a little heavy for my 3 1/2 yr old. She weighs about 40lbs and is in good physical condition.

I give it four stars because it appears built to last, has above average styling. One star off for the lack of specific instructions and the above mentioned gripes.

1.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BIKE BUT AWFUL PACKAGING!, August 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The packaging was so bad part of the bike was hanging out of the box. The bike has numerous scratches and theres a ding on the rear wheel cover. It didn't have protection sleeves on a majority of the pieces to prevent scratching. There was also NO foam or anything else to prevent it from bouncing around in the very damaged cardboard box. Was this item returned?? The zip ties were even broken! This is the WORST packaged/shipped item I have EVER ordered online through ANY company. I am furious of the lack of quality Amazon sends out! My daughters birthday is in 2 weeks. Now I have to buy a different one and pay to express ship it! I am done with Amazon Permanently and will share my pictures of the lousy overpriced garbage I received online for ALL to see! I am unsure if Amazon dropped the ball or if the manufacturer but either way this bike was in very poor shape.

Very cute bike that went together well and is very strong and study, but very heavy. Training wheels have come lose a few times, but that is an easy fix.

The bike is great, the problem is my daughter is just a little too small to get the pedals all the way around. She is a small 3, but she will be able to ride it very soon. She plays on it now and the bike is well constructed and very nice looking. I am very pleased with the purchase. I would agree with some of the other people that have said the instructions are NON-Existant...because that is true. Most of the assembly however is obvious, except the handle bars, which you have to tighten slightly before you put them on (otherwise you end up tightening forever, not sure if you are making any headway) and then start to tighten again once you have inserted the handle bars into the frame. At least that is how I did it and I had the bike assembled in about 45 minutes.
