5.0 out of 5 stars Great bike at a great price. Perfect size for a small girl in between sizes.
I got this bike for my 9 year old daughter on her birthday. This was really important to us: she's right between the 20" inch and 24" sizes and a lot of the 24" bikes we tried out were a bit too big for her, the 20" ones seemed like she'd only get to ride for the summer before she out gre them. This bike fit perfectly, seat lowered all the way down and she'll be able to...

2.0 out of 5 stars sweet bike nice price...at first. HORRIBLE COMPONENTS
My daughter hasn't been able to ride the bike yet due to the massive amounts of ice on the streets this year, but the bike definitely looks nice, was easy to put together and will be a great size for years. The low bar height makes it so my 9 year old can use it now and, since it's made for a teen, she should be able to ride it for a long time. I'm a little worried that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bike at a great price. Perfect size for a small girl in between sizes., May 4, 2011
I got this bike for my 9 year old daughter on her birthday. This was really important to us: she's right between the 20" inch and 24" sizes and a lot of the 24" bikes we tried out were a bit too big for her, the 20" ones seemed like she'd only get to ride for the summer before she out gre them. This bike fit perfectly, seat lowered all the way down and she'll be able to grow with it and use it for a long time. This is her first mountain bike, we were looking for quality and value, and I believe this bike has both. The components are all shimano, the seat is very comfortable (according to her) and the bike is sturdy. It's a bit heavy but it's standard for steel frames in this price range. Plus, she won't be doing any jumping just yet. We've been on a few rides already and the bike has managed well. The shifters do their job well. As on ALL new bikes, the cables will loosen in the first couple of months so the derailers will require a bit of tuning, this is normal and should not be cause of concern as I've read in some reviews. Also, I've read reviews on other sites criticizing the fork but the truth is that on a kids bike, this fork is pretty sturdy and has enough resistance and travel. Unless your kid is competing and requires a more specialized bike, this is a great introductory bike. I bought this at sports authority, so they assembled it for me (store policy) but if you buy here, assembly is really a breeze. Basically you have to put the wheels on, the pedals on, turn the handle bar and thighten the brakes. The hardest part is taking all the cardboard out!
We did a lot of research, tried tons of bikes and I think really found great value in this one. Not that it matters a ton but the bike looks great too, definately way better put together than those cheap ones at walmart (and I shop at walmart). Definately would recommend to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good bike for the money, April 11, 2011
By
I bought this bike for my 10 yr. daughter, I did not buy it from Amazon, but form REI, I am very handy with bikes, but they put it together for free, for $180 total, it is a steal.
This bike is not light because it has steel frame...standard in this price range. 21 speed Shimano grip shfters and derailler. We rode it now for a year now, seasonal use, no problem at all....For an average handy man, you can put it together within an hour...and please use a bike stand or bike rack when trying to put it together, it is about 40lbs I believe, or put the handelbar first, then put the bike upside down to install the rest of the components..

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Bike, December 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this bike for my daughters 11th birthday and she really likes it. I comes disassembled, but it is very easy to put together. I put it together in about 15 minutes and it rides perfectly. She has been riding it for about a year now and it has been superb. I don't know why its getting such low ratings. It is easy to put together if you know what your doing. No parts have broke, nor has any parts just fallen off. Just remember to tighten up all the nuts and bolts. This is a nice bike and I would recommended it to anyone wanting a nice quality bike for their daughter.

I'm a little worried that the front shock is el cheepo and won't work very well, but can't say for sure yet. The price is incredible.

UPDATE!!!... very disappointed that diamondback would sell this bike. The shock is useless, the bike weighs more than mine and my wife's together and the grip shifts are impossible to turn. I kept telling my daughter to toughen up with the shifters until I finally listened to her and tried them. I couldn't even turn them. So I replaced the rear shifter and now it turns like butter. Diamondback should be embarrassed to sell this...

This was a good purchase at a good price. The only drawback is that the assembly instructions are poor to non-existent. If you have never had experience assembling, maintaining or repairing a bike like this you are in for a long process.

It was a very good price for someone who does not mind the assembly process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bike!, July 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this bike for my 9 yr old daughter and it is perfect for her! She was in between a 22" and 24" bike and this bike fits her great with much room to grow. My husband put it together in no time, it shipped great. We have gone on many bike rides and she has had no problems with it. Awesome quality and great price!

Love the look of the bike.....my daughter will be so excited, but disappointed
in the fact that I had to pay someone to build the bike when I specifically asked
customer service if the bike would be shipped in parts or all put together, as the
description did not say either way...so tack on another $75.00 to your total purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars No Assembly instructions, May 25, 2010

I wish I had read the other reviews. I didn't realize there were no assembly instructions and assembly on your own won't work unless you have experience with assembling bikes. Now I have to paid to have someone else assemble. Nothing like being excited to receive your purchase just to find you can't use it until you fork out more money.

My daughter got this bike for her 9th birthday. She absolutely loved her new bike. But 2 weeks after she got it, the handle bars came loose, a reflector fell off, and it's currently unrideable until my husband has time to see if it's fixable. He, by the way, put it together in the first place, and he truly is very knowledgeable with bicycles. Honestly, if anyone can fix it, he can. I'm just disappointed that it has to be fixed already.
