The bike is an amazing value, to get an aluminum frame AND fork, there are heavier steel bikes here for twice as much. The geometry is a good balance for comfort and yet the bike is stiff enough for aggressive riding. The componentry works fine if adjusted properly.

Other reviewers (cough) who complain about flat tires need to realize that keeping your tires inflated will avoid most wheel problems. The tires are high-pressure and need to be maintained. This is true for most bikes. The wheels will withstand the usual curb-jumping but they're not for downhill racing.
Again, keep your tires inflated. I can't stress this enough. By doing this, you are lowering the rolling resistance and you will ride faster. Under-inflated tires invite pinch-flats (which is exactly what the other reviewer was experiencing) and debris.

It's sad that most negative bike reviews are usually due to user error.

First, I just gotta say... I freakin love this bike! I have now had two Insights because my first one was stolen and I needed another bike ASAP because I use this to commute. Well, as soon as my first one was stolen I didn't even need to think about what bike I would get to replace it. I have tried other bikes that are comparable, but none out there can beat the price for this quality. No big box store is gonna give you a bike with quality components like the Insight. Wallymart or wherever may be a little cheaper, but the extra $100 spent on a quality bike like the insight will ensure thousands of miles with no repairs probably, except flat tires. Also, the Treks, Specialized, and Giant bikes I have tried, which cost hundreds more than the Insight are not any better in my honest opinion.

I am a college student who commutes between 3 campuses and work so I ride this bike probably 20-30 miles a day on average as a and I also take it on 2-3 hour rides once a week or so. I have racked up almost a thousand miles on it I'm guessing and it's still rolling strong. The Derailers work great, all the components are quality, I've never had to replace anything(except tubes obviously) and it's an all around wonderful bike. It is soooooo light too! I love that I can pick it up and swing it around easily so I can put it on bike racks with ease.

Bad Qualities - The bike does have brakes that could be a little better. Also, the stock tires could be upgraded in my opinion, but these are not deal breakers. I have ridden this bike without upgrading anything besides my seat and the tubes and I've been more than happy. The other great thing about this bike I think is that is has components that are high quality and will last...

I purchased this bike last June; from July thru November, I cycled over 3000 kms on the bike.
It is an excellent purchase for anyone who wants a sturdy commuting bike.
I commute 50 kms a day with books, laptop, clothes and the bike held up really well. I live on the south shore of Montreal and I commute across the bridges onto the island. I needed a bike that I could take to work in all weather conditions that would survive the bumpy streets of Montreal. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can get back on it. There are a few drawbacks but the good points far outweigh the bad.

Good points:
- Sturdy construction, smooth ride, good ergomomics for a 5'9"" guy.
- handles really well in the rain, I have fenders and it makes a huge difference

Bad points:
- stock tires are poor, I got 3 flats in 3000 kms, the rubber is too soft, I just bought some schwalbe tires so I do not have the same problem this summer (I hope)
- Brakes are used up really really fast. For some reason I go thru a set of brake pads on the back every 1000 kms. On my previous bike, the pads lasted 5000 kms. I installed quick change pads cuz once you feel them going soft, they need to be changed
- More maintenance is needed than my last bike (peugeot) to keep this bike performing well but it is well worth the effort.

Hope this review helps.

Size: 19-Inch/ LargeColor: Speed Blue Verified Purchase
I received the bike and assembled it in about an hour. Very simple procedure and if I did this more than once I could cut my time in half. Took the bike for a test spin around the block, adjusted the brakes, the handlebars, and made sure everything that gets broken in gets the once over before putting any serious riding plans in motion.
This is a very light bike--up until now I have only used mountain bikes with a rigid fork and somewhat wider tires. I ride almost entirely urban, though the pot holes in the streets sometimes resemble a lunar surface or an area under heavy shelling. There is a short trail through some woods I can use to avoid a major intersection. I think this bike will be up to the challenge.
One thing I will need to do next weekend is to make sure to apply some lubricant to a few of the assembled pieces.
A good bike for the money. I would give five stars if this holds true by the end of the summer, but for now only 4.

I purchased this bike earlier this summer and it has quickly become my go to first choice. I set it up for an everyday commuter. It's great for a quick ride to the store or a trek with my wife and son. I made a few additions to it after riding it a few times. Obviously, a Cat Eye Velo 8 bike computer, an Avenir rear rack and pack, and some clipless/platform pedals. The pedals allow me to clip in for a serious ride or wear my tennis shoes for my casual rides. Other than this, there's not much you need to do to this bike. I agree with the review about keeping your tires well inflated. This will save you from having alot of problems. I have recieved alot of compliments about this bike while out and about with it, and some people have even asked if they could test ride it (and returned with a smile on their face).
