This bicycle is very high quality, looks great and was a real pleasure to put together. Awesome paint job! Materials and machining appear to be top-notch. Hardware turns smoothly and fits well. Adjusting the rear-brake detangler is a bit complicated, meaning the step-by-step instructions have a number of steps and include some loop-backs if the results of the last few steps aren't quite right. But then, it's a complicated bearing (free floating, 360 degree swivel). People have posted videos of how to adjust these.

The bicycle is listed for ages 4-8, but I think that's pretty far off, probably based only on the wheel size. The cranks on this bike are long, twice as long as on a 12-inch Specialized. My six-year-old son cannot ride this bike seated (one leg completely stretched to reach bottom pedal, knee of other one practically hitting him in the chest), though he is not that big for six. Note that the chain stay is not parallel to the ground so the axis for the pedals is higher than the rear axle. This is more a BMX/stunt bike for an 8-12 year old or any serious rider not quite big enough to throw around a 20-inch-wheel bike.

I am happy enough with it to keep it, though we probably won't use it much for another year or more.

I got this bike for my son's 7th birthday and it fits him perfectly. I even coast around on it so that tells ya it withstands some weight (although I'm only 160 pounds).
I recommend this bike to anyone that wants his younger son to have a decent bike to have a blast with.
We go on rides almost everyday and he keeps up with me. Although I do encourage him to start slow until he masters the bike. He doesn't have much trouble going up hills now either (not steep grades mind you).

Why do I give it 4 stars? The assembly instructions might as well be in a Chinese dialect lol. If you dont already know all the "biking" terms then you will be in the dark with these instructions. But in time, just looking at the bike and putting it together with common sense, with a few adjustments. You'll have that bike on the road in no time. Next time I'm near a bike shop I plan on taking my son's bike so they can properly adjust everything.
Have fun!

Solid build and smooth ride. Diamond back does not disappoint. Its not too heavy so it is maneuverable for little ones. Brake system is great and the safety profile appears to be strong. Only suggestion would be to include a kickstand.
