4.0 out of 5 stars Great entry level bike
Great entry level bike for my wife. Great price from Amazon. However, please note this bike requires assembly and I had my local bike store do it for $80.

5.0 out of 5 stars a good deal, February 25, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this for my wife to use as an indoor bike in winter set up on a trainer. I have built bikes in the past, and this was actually easier to put together than bikes of 10-15 years ago. The directions are not great, but you should be able to put it together with a wrench and the tools that are included with the bike.
As for as the bike itself, it is a decent entry level frame that is fairly light weight for this class of bike, it has some nice components on it, such as a quick release seat and quick release front and rear tires and v-style brakes, and the shifters are built into the grips, so no levers to get hung up on, and it also comes with a decent entry level shock absorbing front fork and semi-slick tires. The cranks and chain rings and rear cassette are of low end quality, BUT it will work and last for a number of years, and really ,if that kind of component is something you are worried about, then don't buy an entry level bike.
This is a decent quality bike that will work well for casual riders, and for the money its really just a great deal, especially when you look at what kind of components come with it. As for the people who say the front wheel hits the frame when turning, this is not true, in those cases, they have installed things backwards, which causes that problem, so ignore those reviews and put the thing together properly and you will be fine.

Bought a 17" version for my wife who's 5'7" and it is a perfect fit. Well-built for this price range, shifts smooth, brakes are great. Rode it on moderate trails and bike held up really well. The seat isn't the best but can be easily swapped. If you're looking for a quality entry-level mountain bike this is a good option.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product for the money, January 20, 2012

Although we don't have a lot of miles on it so far, initial quality is good and assembly is straight-forward. Arrived in good shape with a lot of thought in the packaging. Seems to be a good middle step between a cheapo bike and top-end. Fits my 9 year old daughter well.

I purchased this bike last week for my wife. Assembly was easy and took less than 30 minutes. So far she loves it and I saved $30 by ordering it from Amazon rather than purchasing it at a local box store!
