It seems to work well. Not as smooth as some of the higher end pedals, but I didn't expect it. The black coating is coming off after about 200 miles, but it's only cosmetic. The pegs are really grippy. They took some getting used to, but I like the extra traction they give me on the pedals. The larger size is nice too. The picture doesn't show it, but I'm glad it has reflectors on it. I would buy them again, assuming they don't have a ridiculously short life.

These are great pedals for the casual cyclist. Recently, I've been taking my bike to work much more to save money (my bike's a 2001 Diamondback Outlook). Unfortunately, resin pedals just don't cut it for me, often cracking after only a few months of limited use (keeping in mind, however, that I'm a pretty big guy at 6'3 and 280 lbs, and the pedals aren't the only thing that's broken before; I've also had to replace a seatpost clamp and a worn crank arm in the past.) I know most experienced cyclists would say, "It's a fact of life that resin pedals are worthless," but I don't make a lot of money, so I don't have the luxury of being able to spend a lot on repairing and maintaining my bike. I saw these pedals and thought that I'd give them a try, and I've not been disappointed.

I could feel the difference the first time I rode with them. While I used to feel resin pedals give a little when I push down (even brand new ones), these aluminum pedals are about as solid as I've ever felt. The traction pegs grip my shoes really well, and I just wear running shoes usually. I like that the pedals are so big, because, as I said before, I'm a big guy, and that means I have big feet, which also lets me apply more force.

I will say that the pedals are noticeably heavier than other pedals, but this wasn't much of a concern for me. I know that if you're going to get anything for a bike, you consider three factors (expense, weight, and durability) and pick the two that matter the most to you. So, personally, I'm willing to ride something that's a little heavier so long as I can get something inexpensive that will last a while.

I don't anticipate having to buy new pedals for a long time, but if it does happen, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.

UPDATE: I was recently hit by a car on my way in to work, and I think it worth noting that the pedals were still usable; cosmetic damage only, so yeah, I'd say they're fairly solid, and worth the extra weight. I plan on salvaging these and installing them on my next bike.

I bought these Diamondback Sound Pedals to replace the crappy stock resin ones that came with my partial suspension mountain bike. I installed them myself and the threading was good. What a major change! These pedals have a spread aluminum alloy cage which allows more of your foot to make contact with the pedal thus making your pedal strokes more energy efficient while distributing more of your leg power into forward movement. I have not played with the adjustable pins yet but it may be a very useful feature.

With some metal alloy pedals with cleats or OEM parts like the resin pedals you feel the pedal shaft press into the arch of your foot after a long hard ride and it get's tiring. Not with these diamondbacks though. The image here does not show the reflectors in order to give you a better view of the pedal itself but they do ship with the required yellow reflectors, which are actually somewhat protected by being recessed into the cage itself. I am interested to see how long the bearings hold up under how much stress I put through them with my riding style. Altogether a very worthwhile upgrade at a good price.

These pedals are pretty heavy, but they do their job well.

I'm a platform pedal convert (at least for technical mountain biking). These pedals are a fraction of the price of the popular Crank Bros pedals, and these seem to work as well as you could want.

The screw pins are super grippy, and going over really harsh terrain at speed I've only slipped off once (but I almost got air, so there wasn't full weight on the pedal at the time). In fact, they're so grippy that you have to work a little to reposition your foot. That's ok though.

They're also tough enough, as I've banged them pretty hard both on the side and on the bottom against boulders.

Great pedals for the money.

I ordered the 9/16 size Dimondback Sound pedals for my mountain bike and they are pretty sweet. The picture shown is incorrect, these have more pegs and more grip than the picture shows. If you want to see what it really looks like, check out the 1/2 version's picture. These are heavy but I don't care because they are so durable and grippy when paired with the right shoes. When I put on my vans, the waffle bottom gets like glued onto these things. The pegs can deffinitely hurt though if you somehow slam your shin into them. Overall this is exactly what I was looking for, I don't need light stuff because I have strong legs and I really like the grip, Its a huge improvement over the plastic ones that these replaced.

It arrived quickly, as *almost* always with my Amazon orders. It looks just as described, functions just as described. I almost wish I spent a little more and gotten the bigfoot pedals, but hey, these are standard size so it's nothing I'm not used to. Very nice paint, has a "wet" look to it, so it matches my bike perfectly! Don't buy plastic ones at WalMart; those get weak and break. Spend a little more...get a LOT more.

They should chage the picture to the pedals. They have a screw peg in the middle between the other two. So it makes it three across instead of two. Which is great because it adds more grip. When I was buying them I almost didnt get them because i thought they only had two but they fit in my price range. All in all they are great solid built pedals.

I wanted this product because of the large flat surface for my feet. They were noticably hard to spin. On my first ride, I got a clicking sensation on one of the pedals, repeatedly, on the upstroke. Rather than return them, I decided to dissasemble, regrease, and adjust the tightness of the retaining nut. Now, they seem to be great..and spin freely. I was lucky because I never worked on pedals. They are a lot of tiny ball bearings inside that require careful handling.

I replaced the plastic (or what looks like plastic) ones what originally came with my Trek 800 Sport with these. I think this was my $20 well spent; this is really hard metal and provides a good grip for your shoe. Those eight nobs on each side of the pedal are threaded for something to be screwed on and the pedals come with the yellow reflectors. These pedals are very good and may provide years of good riding experience. I picked these up from Dick's.

I love these. I got them to replace the stock plastic pedals on my GT outpost. I think they are great
