fantastic,

This is the first real bike that I have ever owned, so I don't know about the higher echelons of bike riding, but this bike is great. Breaks are fantastic, shocks work really well, its not too heavy, the tires are meaty, the frame is strong, and the gears shift smoothly. The first thing I did when I got this bike was put it together, which was real easy, and then tune it up just the way I like it, and then take it for a test run in the hills up behind my house, and I must say this bike can tare it up, weather I was pushing it up a steep rocky hill, or flying down a steep rocky hill this thing performed like a champ. It rides smooth, fast, and most important it is just plain fun. Like I said before I don't know a lot about high end bikes, so maybe someone with more knowledge might have a different opinion than I do, but for my first semi expensive bike I could not be happier.

Got it this weekend and started riding it as soon as I could. I had to adjust a few things to my liking but that was just personal prefence. Havent been able to take it on some serious rides yet but will do soon. I was able to do some small jumps and ruff terrain, over all it rides well and is very sturdy. This is my first semi expensive bike, and believe me it is extremely different than the Wolly world brands I was used to. For now I would say well worth the money.Packaging was very nice and very fast delivery.

Diamondback Recoil,

I recently received my bike and I must say it was more than I had expected. the frame is robust and sturdy, and the quality of the parts are good. I have ridden it also, but not on the trails as yet due to my hectic schedule, just on the roads. and I must say that it rides well!My advice to you guys who are interested in buying it that you pay attention to the "Spring (suspension)" in the frame. adjust it before you go riding! that means-tighten it because it comes unadjusted from Diamondback, so if you ride it without adjusting it you will find that you will hear strange noises. This will be because the spring while under compression will be sliding around in its stand-and you don't want that. That is what will give strange noises of metal rubbing on metal, and hinder you from enjoying your bike ride. That's the mistake I made so I am talking from experience. So tighten and adjust as you desire before you start to ride. Overall I am glad that I bought it and I have no reservations about it. Its just for me to adjust my spring (suspension as desired) then it will be perfect. I hope this helps you prospective buyers out there! PS. I thank Amazon for once again providing a prompt and speedy delivery. Once again they have been flawless!

Got this bike very recently and the thing rides like a champ. It can definitely take some abuse and keep going. Delivery was fast, and assembly was very simpleEDIT: Snapped the rear derailleur today and the back tire came off :(

Pretty nice bike for my wife,

Just ordered an put together this bike for my wife. For the price it is a nice bike. As other reviewers have noted, the bike is a bit heavy. If you want to race or shred trails, spend the couple thousand needed for something designed for that. But if you want to ride a trail without getting sore this bike works well. Most of the bike came assembled so putting it together was a breeze; just attach the handle bar, pedals and wheels and you're ready to go. All the drive train and cabling came pre-assembled. Shifting is precise and snappy for the price range and the shocks are plush enough. Only concern was the stand over height is a bit higher than stated. Since the seat pushes you a bit further forward on the top tube you aren't standing over the lowest point when straddling the bike. Add about an inch to the stated height to get the "effective" standover height. Fortunately, she still fits.In summary, the bike's componentry isn't high end or race-worthy, but is will work well for it's intended use: comfortably riding around town and on light to moderate trails.

I don't normally do reviews, but based on my experience with this bike, I felt I needed to. I've owned a previous Diamondback, Wally World model, but it did me good over the years. Was time to get upgrade a bit and wanted a "real" bike, not something bought at the local dept store. Decided to stick with DB and found this bike on here for a killer deal. Walked into it knowing it was a entry level full suspension, but that was all I needed and really didn't want to spend $1000's on a bike I probably will not use to its full potential anyhow. So, order the bike and an aftermarket seat. Funny, I got the bike before the seat. Bike came about 75% assembled and came with all the tools to finish it. I'm not a big brake guy so I put everything together as best as I could and took it to local bike shop to be tuned up. Had plans for a weekend long camping trip where I knew I'd be putting some serious miles on the bike so took it out for about a 10 miles shake down ride on the road a week prior. Half way down I start hearing a grinding noise. Look and there is a metal spacer that sits on the bottom of the rear susp coil spring that fell off. I'm not sure how it was suppose to be secured in there, but when pressure was taken off the spring it would rattle around and obviously eventually fell off. Now, the bottom of the coil spring was binding into the rear susp, chipping the paint and making some nasty noises. I was able to limp it home, but knew it wouldn't work off-road. So, swing by a few local bike shops and they all say I should call DB seeing it's new and that isn't really a generic part. Luckly, there is a DB authorized dealer in the next town over. Figure it would be easier to take it to them seeing it will most likely be a warranty repair. As luck would have it, I drop the bike off and get a call from the shop owner a few hours later. Just so happens the DB rep came into the shop shortly after I left and he showed him by bike. The rep called DB and they told him they no longer make the part and they would refund my money and to send it back to Amazon. I figured this would be eaiser said than done, but it wasn't. I have to commend Amazon on the no hassle return. I did have to spend $25 on a box big enough to pack the bike back up, but UPS showed up at my door, put a sticker on it and away it went. Had a refund within a week later. Could not have been easier. So, as far as the bike, buyer beware as it appears they aren't making parts for it. But based on the excellent experience between DB and Amazon on the issues and return, I would not hesitate to buy from either again. Mistakes happen, parts brakes, and it all comes down to customer service which both of these companies knocked out of the ball park. As a side note, I ended up spending $1000's on a Giant Mt Bike as a replacement from the shop I brought my DB too. After the experience, I decided to just suck it up and buy something top shelf and local, hopefully eliminate any issues in the near future.

After suffering a knee injury, I needed to do something low-impact to keep in shape. I had mountain biked in the past and living close to some amazing trails, it was an easy choice. However, I didn't want to spend $500+ on a "entry level" bike at the local bike shop. This bike has been, so far, a quality buy. I've never put a bike together but a quick look at a well-known video posting site for a post on How to Assemble A Store Bought Bike, I knew I could save $50 by not having someone else do it for me. Don't worry about buying tools, everything you need is in the box. It all came very well boxed and took right around an 30-45 minutes to assemble. The shifters and rear brake came pre-installed so all that was necessary was to install the front disc brake (instructions are included) and tighten a cable--easy. We've got some pretty serious trails around here and at 6'1", 215lbs, I can put a bike through its paces pretty quick. Bang-for-the-buck, this is a good purchase. Named components, solid construction and ease of assembly make this an all around nice product. Even the guys at the local bike shop can see the quality in it and for future upgrades, its a solid base to start from.

Bike came on Friday, so I was all excited to get home and get the thing together so I could ride it over the weekend. When I came home the first thing I notices was "made in China" on the box! Ugh. I took the disassembled bike out of the box and began putting everything together - after about an hour I realized I was missing the front break caliper - no breaks! I called customer service who said I need to speak to technical support to have the item shipped out, but they were gone for the weekend! So no weekend bike ride.Monday morning I called Nashbar and asked for technical support, when the guy picked up I thought I was calling a funeral home. What a miserable guy. He grudgingly processed my order for the replacement caliper, but he would not send it overnight! He said he did not have the authority, and to talk to customer service. Customer service said they have no control over how the technical support guys ship and to speak with them about it! What a joke. I gave up on trying to get the part sent overnight, but I did call back to ask about adjusting the bike before the first ride. The rear brakes are binding on the rear disk and the rear tire does not spin freely at all. The technical support guy said to go to Park Tools website for information about making all the necessary adjustments. He said "everything needs to be adjusted; the manufacturer just puts the parts on the frame". I think I am just going to take the bike to a bike shop and have them get it all tuned up, I don't need the derailleur snapping or the front tire popping off. If I had to do it again I would have just went to my local bike shop and purchased something in my price point.

As a casual rider who prefers mountain bikes just so I'm not restricted to pavement, this bike fits the bill (no pun intended) exactly. It's a very nice price for a full suspension bike. I'm not an 'extreme biker' or one who hits the mountain trails hard or anything so I can't say first hand if this bike is or is not good for those applications, but reason says that you'ld probably be better off with something else. The parts are respectable, being of mostly well-known brands like Shimano et al. There was some assembly involved which may or may not pose some problems for the less-mechanical of us (yours truly included). Nevertheless, I did get this up mostly and got a tune-up from a local bike shop and now it runs perfectly. I do have a problem with the bottle-cage attachments, one of the hex-bolts is unremovable so my bottle-cage is on their with just one, passable for my usage but it probably wouldn't hold up on rougher riding. Overall this is a very good bike for the buck. If you're on a budget and insist on full-suspension, this is for you. |
