This review is from: Diamonds Are Waiting For You: Crater of Diamonds, Where Dreams Can And Do Come True (Perfect Paperback)
This is merely the author's recollection of a great family vacation adventure and for that I respect the author for spending quality time with his family. However, I found very little "how-to," though the story was pleasant. The photography was very good, but offered little to encourage the would-be diamond hunter. I was looking for a lot more "steak" along with the "sizzle." At 66 pages, this was 16 minute read which meant I still had time to look online for a more informative book. Unfortunately, I have not yet found anything more than the Park website.

A Gem of a Book,

This review is from: Diamonds Are Waiting For You: Crater of Diamonds, Where Dreams Can And Do Come True (Perfect Paperback)
Diamonds Are Waiting For You is a charming treasure of a book, which reads like an adventure. James Holland, former National Geographic photographer, tells a tale of a family trip to the world's eighth largest diamond reserve. Engaging and real, the story is interwoven with history, folklore and diamond hunting tips.
The photographs that accompany the journey are beautiful and radiate the excitement of a day in which a family has the time of their lives trying to "strike it rich". I was curious about how diamonds are dug out of the ground, and came away both enlightened and entertained. Highly recommended. |
