This review is from: Diamonds Aren't Forever (Hawkman Series) (Hawkman, Bk 6) (Paperback)
I loved reading Diamonds aren't Forever. Although it's actually a sequel to Dirty Diamonds, it's also possible to read the books separately. Again, Betty Sullivan La Pierre did a wonderful job, she absolutely wrote a thrilling story that you'll love reading from page one till the last! Diamonds aren't Forever is the 6th book in the Hawkman Series and it's written in an outstanding way. To put it in short: It's a marvellous book! Betty Sullivan La Pierre, you have a new fan!!!

Another Great Hawkman Mystery!,
By
This review is from: Diamonds Aren't Forever (Hawkman Series) (Hawkman, Bk 6) (Paperback)
When Jamey Schyler fled to South America with stolen diamonds, she didn't think she would ever have to return to Medford, Oregon. A private investigator known as Hawkman would love nothing more than to prove she had something to do with the diamond heist in DIRTY DIAMONDS. Unfortunately, she forgot to record the deed to a house her late aunt had left her. Now she has to go back and prove she's the rightful owner, and then slip out of the country again.
Easy, right? Not hardly. Hawkman seems to be everywhere and Carl Hopkins, the man she framed in DIRTY DIAMONDS, is out of jail seeking revenge. And so begins the chase with Jamey sneaking in and out of the country, eluding Hawkman at every turn. But what she doesn't know is that Hawkman's priorities have shifted from gaining proof of her guilt to protecting her from Carl Hopkins. DIAMONDS aren't FORVER had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails and feeling Hawkman's frustration at coming close to catching Jamey only to have her slip out reach over and over again. And then there's the shadow of Carl Hopkins adding suspense and danger to another fantastic Hawkman mystery.

Another Hawkman Jewel,

This review is from: Diamonds Aren't Forever (Hawkman Series) (Hawkman, Bk 6) (Paperback)
The small town of Medford, Oregon will never be the same, not since Tom Casey, aka Hawkman, started his PI business there. His most recent case involves Jamey Schuyler, a beautiful young woman who has haunted Hawkman for the past year as the one that got away --- not quite with murder, although she did leave a corpse in her wake. Jamey, clever miss that she is, used her feminine wiles to coax Carl Hopkins into partnering on a jewel heist, then set him up and ran off to South America with another partner, leaving Hopkins holding the bag --- literally. It seems that Ms. Schuyler planted a bag of diamonds in Carl's pickup just before the cops arrived, leaving her free and untouchable with Carl out of the way. Now, after serving his time in jail, he is understandably peeved at Jamey. He has vowed to himself that, if he ever finds the double-crossing little woman, he will make her pay. Hawkman hopes to stop him.
Hawkman's friend Charlie has been renting a house owned by Jamey, and has become interested in buying it. But it means that Jamey will have to make a trip back to Medford to handle the transaction. Nervous as she is, the lure of more money --- and breaking ties with Oregon forever --- is just too strong and she sneaks into town, hoping her disguise will keep her anonymous. But this time, she has underestimated Hawkman --- and maybe Carl Hopkins too. Greed can do strange things to a person, and Jamey's gets her into plenty of hot water. Revenge, on the other hand, is a powerful and dangerous emotion. When Carl allows thoughts of revenge to blind him to all else, he triggers a series of events that threatens not only Jamey's life, but Hawkman's friend Charlie's as well. Betty Sullivan LaPierre has perfected the Hawkman mysteries, blending just the right mix of action and intrigue with down-home neighborliness. This tale, as all of Ms. LaPierre's, gives you several hours of highly enjoyable escape with an exciting wrap-up at the end.
