Book Description

Silhouette Intimate Moments April 1, 2006

If diamonds were a girl's best friend...

Then emeralds came in a close second. So when ex-model-turned-agent Jordan Colby--Code Name: Diamond--was sent to Kauai to find a missing green gem, she jumped at the chance. There was just one hitch: the presence of her ex-fiancé, T. J. Scott, a former New York City cop who'd turned his back on everything that had meant anything to him. Starting with her...

Or had he? T.J.'s sizzling stares were starting to convince her that his feelings for her had never cooled, and his protectiveness convinced her that he was one of the good guys after all. But if there was one thing she was beginning to learn, it was that dazzling surfaces were no reflection of what lay beneath....

5.0 out of 5 stars Special Agent Diamond, June 20, 2006
This review is from: Diamonds Can Be Deadly (Silhouette Intimate Moments) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jordan Colby, ex-model turned super secret agent, got her heart broken when she fell in love with a dirty cop, T. J. Scott. Now he's back on her personal radar and all the feelings she had for him are just as intense as ever. The bad thing is she's on a mission for Omega that can't wait and no one else has the credential to walk in as easily as she did. Sent in to retrieve the Star of the East, a legendary emerald, Jordan has to negotiate the traps of pop guru Bartholomew Greene to achieve her objective. Except T. J. turns out to have even more secrets than even a trained secret agent could guess at.

Merline Lovelace is the author of dozens of romances. The Code Name: Danger series has been a long-running staple. She's written several historical romances as well as stand-alone books in contemporary lines. Her background as a colonel in the United States Air Forces lends itself dynamically to her blockbuster romantic military thrillers, RIVER RISING, DARK SIDE OF DAWN, DUTY AND DISHONOR, CALL OF DUTY and LINE OF DUTY. She's also authored the Cleo North trilogy and suspense thrillers, EYE OF THE BEHOLDER and PERFECT DOUBLE.

DIAMONDS CAN BE DEADLY is a slam-dunk of a read. Lovelace is one of those writers that can wind a story up to the breaking points and shove it at a headlong pace to a blazing finish. Jordan and T. J. are both realistically portrayed, and their physical attraction scorches the pages. Along the way, Lovelace manages to bring to light several interesting factoids about the emerald trade, security and cutting-edge spytech.

The book is recommended reading for all Lovelace fans as well as anyone who loves romantic suspense with thrill-a-minute pacing. Readers who haven't tried Lovelace's books in the past are truly encouraged to jump on with this one.
