More About the Author

M. A. Harper, a southern farmer's daughter, was once a free-lance commercial artist. But upon her discovery that no picture is always worth 1,000 words, she took the 1,000-word option and ran with it. Her published works include novels, children's plays, nonfiction articles and the online FAINT GLOW BLOG. Fascinated by those thin places where reality seems to give way into something Other, her fiction can be described as Supernatural Lite. Among past and present pursuits are palmistry, skydiving and metaphysics. A guilty pleasure is NFL football and her day jobs have included shoe seller, New York City window dresser, department store sales clerk and legal office receptionist. Her favorite night job was as off-Off-Broadway stage manager for many productions at La MaMa. She currently lives in New Orleans. If asked to define herself in one word, she'll say "interested".

I recently read a review by someone who said, they try to finish every book.....but that has changed, with all the books out there. Well I was really happy to read that, because it kind of freed me up, from hanging on to something that was going no place, in hopes that it might go someplace...kind of like the 'clean plate club'....I don't have to be a member of that club anymore, and I don't have to be a member of "read it til the end cause it's the nice thing to do"....Nope!! like that person said, there are too many books out there,to have to spend time on one, that is making you reread pages, hoping that it will turn into something good....No more of that for me. That is what's happening with this book, I have almost gotten half way, but it's a struggle...This person (in the story) has found something interesting, and half way through, she still hasn't checked it out to see if it really is interesting, she's apparently going to talk about it for another quarter of the book, well, I don't care anymore....there are too many good books out there to get interested in...Too bad, nice cover, interesting title, potentially good ideas....not even any romance half way thru?? No recommendation coming from here....not even going to say I'm sorry.....i sitll get sucked in by nice covers...there are so many that are not....that's not even a guide anymore....oh well....

There are so many diamonds of language and image in this book. Caddy is having an ordinary life --if you count being artistic as ordinary-- when diamonds start appearing in her life. And reflect into other folks' lives too. I'm only half way through and am amazed at how enchanted I am.

I loved the book it's a fascinating story told with professional ease. The entire book held my interest from the first word to the last! I'm looking forward to enjoying Annette's other work!
That being said, I honestly had to make two attempts to purchase this great book. When I first located it on Kindle, the 'Paranormal Romance' turned me off. I had to go back a few days later and I took a chance. I was sure the book wouldn't appeal to me... I very nearly missed out on the pleasure this book offers!

It seems, according to author M.A. Harper, that we all get exposed to a little magic in our lives, and it's just up to us to see/feel/experience it when it happens. This book was a little bit of magic. Her characters are well-developed, complete with quirks and foibles and plenty of insecurities. The people spiral into relationships aided by a mysterious UFO or two, but it he plot never goes too deep into paranormal hyperbole. In fact, the plot keeps you engaged and pulling for Alex and Caddie and Hatch to work things out. They do, and it's a delightful, magical trip that you get to take along with them.

When people say that they have been "moved" by something, it's not altogether clear what they mean. After reading Diamonds In The Sky by M.A. Harper, I now know what it means to be moved. It is that moment when you feel so satisfied, you are grinning and crying at the same time. This book is just what I was looking for and I didn't even know it. It is a lovely balance of everyday people finding extraordinary strokes of cadmium red light careening through their lives. Bravo, Ms. Harper!

I am a fan of Ms. Harper. This book is about regular folks, the story develops with people I could see being friends or family Harper writes what she knows, New Orleans, South Carolina and an old man who is at the end of his life, sits on his porch reviewing his life. Along came several young people who, while making their own way in the world, helps him come to terms with his past. Add a touch of magic from the sky and you have a great book.

I am a confirmed Harper fan having read her other three books two times each. I have never reread another novel. Diamonds in the Sky is, in my opinion, is her best. It is not only a story of a romance, but story of love. It would make a great Valentine's Day gift. M A Harper has a wonderful wit. This book is full of laughs and plenty of tears. I sure I will read it again.

In Diamonds in the Sky, M.A. Harper weaves a plot that easily could seem contrived. Yet it never strains credulity, thanks to a deft and subtle handling of details that draw the elements of the story ever more tightly together. Harper's characters, particularly Caddy, are intensely original--captured in all their awkward grace with a sure hand, a keen ear, and an artistic eye.
Simply lovely.
