5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Artist!, October 25, 2000

This is a great first album by a real up and comer. Tarsha Vega's lyrics are a much needed antidote to the sappy sugar of today's pop teen idols. She's got a great groove and this is definitely music to get you going -- try to sit still when Tarsha sings. Her duet with Carol King is superb and the single is an inspired rendition of the late Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party." No doubt Ricky is rocking to it in the great beyond. Take a listen. This is music for music lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop meets Hip-Hop without corn syrup or an anatomy lesson., October 20, 2004

Ever since I heard the track Be Ya Self on Roswell, I've been captivated by Tarsha Vega's music. While I should be too old for hip-hop type music, I enjoy this CD very much. So often, I've heard similiar music with a catchy tune, only to discover that the lyrics can't be sung in polite company. Not the case here. Tarsha Vega manages an entire album without referring to the staple subject of hip-hop -- you know the one. She does refer to socially relevant issues, and the music does make one want to dance. Parents: If this is on your kid's wish list, buy with confidence. It's a notch above ordinary teen tastes.
