She gives Carrie Underwood some serious competition in that there may not be anyone this strong in country music today. 5.0 out of 5 stars DeGarmo has found herself in Nashville, March 22, 2009
This review is from: Diana Degarmo: Unplugged in Nashville (MP3 Download)
After trying to find herself musically for the past few years, Diana DeGarmo returns to her country roots on her EP `Unplugged in Nashville.' This EP, which serves as a re-introduction of DeGarmo to the genre, demonstrates the hard work and tenacity that this girl has, something few people have seen up until this point.

DeGarmo shines on the four tracks vocally, but it is even more impressive that she had a hand in writing the songs along with Jason "Slim" Gambill, Blake Davis and Rachel Thibodeau. The lyrics in "Thank You" are meaningful and represent a sentiment of appreciation for the men and women in the armed forces that is held by many but rarely seems to be expressed in public nowadays. The song could be a major hit at country radio if given the chance.

On "Like I'm Not Even Here," DeGarmo plays the part of a wounded lover being disrespected by her man. She gives the narrator such a feeling of helplessness that one can empathize with her rather easily. Similarly, "Find Me" and "Kiss Me" are examples of how far DeGarmo has come in her songwriting and vocal abilities.

This offering is without a doubt just the beginning of what will be an illustrious career in the country realm for DeGarmo, and is only a taste of what she will have in store for fans when her sophomore album comes to fruition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diana hits stride after stride with country EP, June 11, 2011
This review is from: Diana Degarmo: Unplugged in Nashville (MP3 Download)
Idol runner-up and Broadway superstar Diana DeGarmo stepped in the country music realm after taking a prolonged break from Nashville. Her first country offering shows DeGarmo's vocal growth since her Idol days as well as her magnificent songwriting skills. Where Kiss Me is a sweet love song with playful lyrics, Like I'm Not Even Here showcases DeGarmo's powerhouse voice and very smart songwriting skills. Thank You is DeGarmo's ode to the military but it is written to account her experience with the USO Tour in 2005. The EP closes with Find Me, a typical inspirational, coming-of-age song with a loud, catchy chorus. DeGarmo is fit for country radio and has all the makings of a superstar that are very tangible on this record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!, March 13, 2009
This review is from: Diana Degarmo: Unplugged in Nashville (MP3 Download)
Diana does not need a full band to help her make music for her voice is the music. Yes, it has been a while since we've heard recorded music from Diana, but "Nashville Unplugged" is well worth the wait. I love how Diana' voice sores on every song with power and emotion. And to think that Diana has co-written all these songs has made this EP even more special for Diana and her fans. It is hard for me to choose a favorite but I have to say that I'm partial to "Thank You". Now that I had the appetizer of what Diana is cooking up in Nashville, I'm now ready and eagerly anticipating the main course.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally!, March 13, 2009
This review is from: Diana Degarmo: Unplugged in Nashville (MP3 Download)
I've been waiting a long time for this and Diana didn't disappoint me. She's grown by leaps and bounds since American Idol, and this EP gives people a glimpse of that growth. Hopefully this is the first step towards Diana releasing a full length release because I'd love to hear all four of these songs given a full band studio recording, especially "Kiss Me."
