Academy Award-winning director Richard Attenborough narrates Diana, Queen of Hearts, a tribute to the Princess of Wales, who was tragically killed in an auto accident in August 1997. From her childhood days, when she was a schoolyard mischief-maker, to her years as a fashionable London "Sloane Ranger" to her wedding and motherhood years, Diana is presented through video clippings, photographs, and interviews with those who knew her best. Diana's childhood nanny, Hillary Rodham Clinton, the heads of the many charities she worked for, her hairdresser, her friends, and her employer (she worked as a nanny before becoming princess) are just some of the people to whom Attenborough speaks to shed light both on the woman the princess was and the legacy she left behind.

While the troubled parts of Diana's life are touched upon--her initial faux pas when first presented in court (she was dressed in a completely unsuitable manner for a future queen), her eating disorders, her highly publicized divorce--this video accentuates the positive impact she had upon the world and the joys she found in her life, mainly in her love for her children. This video is not going to shed any new light on the life and difficulties of being a princess, but it is a loving and warm homage to the woman who was "England's Rose." --Jenny Brown

From the Back Cover

Lord Richard Attenborough, acclaimed director and screen actor, is the narrator for this emotional and revealing two-hour documentary about one of the most beloved women of the 20th century.

She was the people's princess, England's Rose, Lady Di. Her tragic death in August 1997 ended a life that was one-part fairy tale, one-part tabloid headline. Now, for the first time, Diana's definitive life story is revealed by those who knew her best: her friends, her family members, and world leaders.

This presentation featuring dozens of exclusive interviews conducted all over the globe goes far beyond any other retrospective ever made about Diana. It paints her portrait in unprecedented detail: From her childhood to her picture-perfect wedding. From her troubled marriage to Prince Charles to the children she adored. From her secret battles in the palace to the charitable causes she triumphed. And finally to the tragic, fatal car crash in a Paris tunnel that resulted in the worldwide outpouring of emotion following her untimely death.

This special presentation is both a loving tribute to one of the great leaders of our generation, as well as a celebration of whom Diana truly was, the power she had to heal and inspire, and the legacy she left behind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice video lots of information but not lot of Diana footage, March 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Diana, Queen of Hearts [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a good video. It interviews many of Princess Diana's close friends and associates. They don't however give any in depth or new information. Most of this stuff you've heard before. Also I wish there was more Diana footage.

Consists mostly of various friends of and people associated with Diana speaking about her and the good she did. Some of these people are rarely if ever seen in other videos, Lucia Flecha De Lima and a few charity benificiaries are examples, which is a good point. You will see Diana in some of the same footage shown in so many other videos but you won't see the unhappiness in her life, for this memorial program they left out the accusations, scandals and rumors. This program does have some divorce, Camilla & Dodi bits but not much, mostly it is a review of the happy good things in the Princess' life.

4.0 out of 5 stars A really GREAT video of Diana. One of the best., October 14, 1999
This review is from: Diana, Queen of Hearts [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is a GREAT look at her life, in an affectionate manner from some one who ACTUALLY knew her. The only video I liked better was A&E's Biograpy.
