Nice tips, but her other book would give you those.,
By Bekita (NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
If you honestly think you can do this beauty boot camp in 14 days, think again. Mrs. Irons tells you to clean out your closets and kitchen cabinets and reorganize everything in one day. I am sorry, but unless you are a sloth with no work or children to care for, this is insane. I might be able to do it in a month, and that's if that is all I did extra, on top of keeping my house together and kids fed. Her tips on the cosmetic application were lacking, you definately would need another accompaniment manual to guide you. I get the feeling she took her other book "The world's Best Kept Beauty Secrets" and tried to add them to some 14 day Boot Camp. The only positive thing in this book are those Beauty Secrets. If you buy this planning to be more beautiful in 14 days, plan again. You may end up losing weight (or comitting suicide). She asks that you keep mirrors all over the house. Drink lots of water (how many times do we hear that, it doesn't make it happen). A better excercise guide would be "Body for Life". There are no recomendations on products except go for natural stuff, I just want to know what is good. I don't like wasting money, so I promptly returned the book. Overall, the chapters on your daily improvement Beauty camp were too vague to help. From what I saw at the book store "Beauty" by Rona Berg looked like what I was looking for.

A Total Diet Program in One,

This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
Diane Irons has done it again. This is an entire program in a slim, easy to follow book and CD. The whole success of my two weeks (lost 13 pounds) was listening to the CD over and over again. The book may not have a lot of content, but the CD is an entire hour of motivation. It's me making the changes, and having to chart them day by day spurred on by my own beauty coach. It was me making the food choices, deciding how I was going to get the water down, etc. I would buy this just for the CD and Diane's daily thoughts and motivation on beauty. It's good to know when I gain a few pounds I have Beauty Boot Camp and Diane Irons ready to put me straight!

Boot camp for those who want to look and feel gorgeous!,
By Lee Mellott "Skin Care For Wrinkles" (Frederick, Maryland) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
This is a fun book for those who want to kickstart a makeover.Diane Irons presents 14 days of "tasks" to accomplish to help you achieve your best. The Boot Camp begins with a simple diet that is low sugar, high protein and chalk full of complex carbohydrates and vegetables. She also gives tips on how to make the diet effective. Her suggestions include drinking green tea, filling up with fiber, drinking tons of water and more. Within days I found I had streamlined my beauty routine, given my bathroom a spalike appearance through some inexpensive additions, pared down my wardrobe, cleaned my pantry and more! Diane's book gave me the "kick" I needed to get it done. Each page in the book provides tips and tricks to make your self look, and feel better physically and mentally! Day 1 of boot camp begins with decluttering your environment. A great way to start feeling in control. This is one area where Diane falters though. In one day, I was supposed to have my kitchen cleaned, wardrobe sorted, bathroom dejunked, etc. etc. These are pretty big projects and the kitchen alone can take a good day or so. What I decided to do, was follow the information for day 1. When I had completed all the tasks go on to day 2. This may take several weeks for some as cleaning out your closet, washing hairbrushes and turning your bathroom into a slice of heaven are time consuming projects! Despite the fact that the timing is not accurate, the book is still a great source of inspiration and a fun way to trim your weight, improve your wardrobe, boost energy and more! What I especially enjoy about the book is the tips Diane includes for developing that special attitude. And Diane's beauty tips are different than the common fare repeated in women's magazines. The book is easy to manage (not bulky like some of the recent beauty books on the market), and is written in an easy to read format. It comes with a bonus audio CD by Diane inspiring you each step of the way. Reading and acting on the suggestions in this book will be like having a personal trainer to help you develop your best style at a fraction of the cost!

CONCISE BUT INFORMATIVE!,

This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
The last time I remotely encountered "boot camp" was years ago when practising martial arts. As a new and over-zealous member of the group, I fell into a frosty creek on a crispy winter morn and had all of my primary senses awakened down to my little toes! This boot camp, "The Fourteen Day Beauty Boot Camp," contains very positive suggestions and techniques; however, I will advise you that it is really a crash course - fourteen days to be exact. If you are looking for any in-depth reading, you will not find that here. The book is concise and to the point, which it appears the author intended, but it is still factual, helpful and certainly worth reading. Personally, I would like to have seen these great little ideas and tips expanded upon in more detail, which is the reason I gave the book a four-star rating rather than a five. The book has some excellent guidelines on beauty, how to set up your home spa, fashion, diet, nutrition, money and time-saving measures, and self-care advice - how to reduce stress and nurture your body, both physically and emotionally. Who in our fast-paced, modern-day world, can't use a little help in all these areas? For a relatively short book, there is definitely some helpful information contained among the pages.

An OK book in the myriad of diet books out today.,

I have lost 50 pounds in the last year. I was having trouble taking the last ten pounds off so I thought that I would give Diane's book a try. Most of the information was interesting but I found the diet itself to be lacking a little. Stick to the 8 glasses of ice water a day and don't eat after 8pm and I think you could take off a lot of weight without even reading the book.

Not her best.,
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
I have absolutely loved Diane's other books. She brings such a fresh approach to beauty in a nice concise manner. However, I was sadly under the impression that Boot Camp would be as good. I suppose it would be a helpful book if you were, let's say, 14 and just learning. But for those of us who would go for this type of book, all of the information is old news. The journal portion is really kitschy. It is almost as if she had nothing else to write about so she took stuff from her other books, threw it together and added the journal portion in line with the current trend. We have all heard about sequels never besting the original. Save your money, I'll send you my copy!

This Woman is a Goddess!,
By Chandra Evans (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
I had heard about Diane Irons'incredible transformations from being in the modeling industry myself. I always wanted to go on her program, but was never able to get on her waiting list of celebrities and top models. So when Beauty Boot Camp came out, I was first in line. It's been two weeks, and I've lost 12 pounds. Plus my closet, cosmetics, kitchen all work for me, & my skin has never looked better, and this was the easiest diet I've ever been on. I took her advice and got 9 hours of sleep a night so I wouldn't eat to overcome fatigue, and I listened to Diane's motivational CD every day (sometimes morning and evening). I am so happy Beauty Boot Camp is now available to everyone, and at such a bargain price. I'm down a dress size! I love this woman!

A Fantastic Program,
By Hellen Birch (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
I saw Diane on The Debra Duncan Show giving her best tips and advice and I couldn't believe my eyes! I've tried so many diets, but my motivation always died down after a week or so. I tried 14 day beauty boot camp with not much hope, but boy was I wrong! It's not a strict diet, but it's a new lifestyle that I've been following religiously for over a month. It combines beauty and diet and gives attention to both. I hate commercials and informercials about diets and I don't want to sound like one, but this book was the greatest! The CD just kept up my motivation and I don't think there's anything out there like this. A wonderful outcome!!

Diet great, other contents o.k.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
I thought the diet that Diane provided in this book was great. While I didn't have many pounds to lose, I really saw results. Many of the other beauty tips were good. I think the book would be more helpful to women who are more overweight than I was and that have low self-esteem. Much of what Diane focuses on are ways to boost your image of yourself and how to feel good about yourself. Because I am a mother of two, I did not have a lot of time to do everything the book suggested.

Great Help for Really Losing Weight,
By A Customer
This review is from: Diane Irons' 14-Day Beauty Boot Camp: The Crash Course for Looking and Feeling Great w/ one Audio CD (Hardcover)
This book really motivated my mother, 76, and me, 49, to get a grip and stick to a serious diet. This book skips all the "fad" diet tricks and prescribes a (very) low calorie diet, with clear healthy menus and specific do's and don't's. The author is serious and talks to the dieters as adults who need motivation. She calls the book "Boot Camp," because she is not writing for your entertainment but to get you there. Buy it if other "sensible" (i.e. lose a pound a week for 2 1/2 months to lose 10 pounds, right? In your dreams!) diets have failed you. As to the comments of other reviewers who felt this book repeats info given in Ms. Irons' previous books- I read this book first so it did not repeat anything to me, and when I checked her other books (at the library) I found they did not provide the specific diet in this book, but do have most of the other "tips". So this is the book to buy.
