4.0 out of 5 stars You Can Still Buy The OLD Refills Direct From Parent Company
We needed refills for our Dekor Plus. Our baby is 8 months old and up til now, the Dekor Plus has worked flawlessly - odors stay trapped and our baby's nursery always smells great. 1.0 out of 5 stars Why Ruin Such a Great Product?!?, June 27, 2008
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
Count me in with the many other reviewers who can't believe how Regal-Lager completely ruined what had been one of our favorite baby products. These new bags erase just about everything that had been a positive about the Dekor diaper disposal system.

Compared to the old refill bags, there are nothing but cons:

* The new bags completely fail to block any odor in at all. You'd might as well just pile the dirties in the corner of the room.

* The biodegradability is a sham appeal. Assuming that you're not buying biodegradable diapers as well, then what's the ecological benefit? This seems to be a bald-faced shakedown to take advantage of the "green craze" and people's good intentions.

* The new bags are a terrible value - 2 per box whereas it used to be 3 per. And so what if your container is Plus-sized when you now need to change it after every single deposit? The knots have always been the biggest waste of material, and you'll be running through them like mad with these new bags. I was stunned to see how quickly I have to replace these bags compared to the old ones - generally about every three weeks vs. the 8 - 10 weeks that I used to get.

However, despite my utter disappointment with the new refills, I'm still a fan of the Diaper Dekor system. Its ease and simplicity make everyday use a nonevent. I'm thinking about investing in one of the smaller-sized Dekors because the old refills are still available at some retailers in that size.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate these bags, Need to find a new diaper system, May 22, 2008

I LOVED the Diaper Dekor system until these new bags came out. I'm an avid recycler, I use reusable shopping bags, I'm all for saving the earth. But, diapers don't degrade, so why does it matter if the bag that holds them does? These new bags do not hold in the stench. One dirty diaper causes the whole bin to smell. The old bags kept things nice and clean and the only time I had any problems with smell was when I would empty the container and open up the bin door on the front. Now, the whole room smells and I loathe using this container. I'm so annoyed I purchased this system. I'll be looking into the Diaper Genies etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Can Still Buy The OLD Refills Direct From Parent Company, January 2, 2009

We needed refills for our Dekor Plus. Our baby is 8 months old and up til now, the Dekor Plus has worked flawlessly - odors stay trapped and our baby's nursery always smells great. In reading the reviews for the new style of refills (the bio-degradeable ones), I decided not to get those. My experience has been with the old style refills and thus, that's what I want to buy.

After reading someone else's review, I discovered you can still buy the old refills direct from the parent company, Regal-Lager. Makes sense: they have the inventory and stand to gain from selling it out.

So here's what I did. Called P: 770-955-5060. After a series of voice prompts I was put directly in touch with a rep. They took my order and now I'm set.

$21.95 for 3 pack plus

Seems that Regal-Lager has made a mistake in creating bio-degradeable refills. What sense does it make to make bio-degradeable pail liners when your stuffing them full of non-bio-degradeable diapers and materials?

Oh well. Stock up on the old refill liners while they last!

these new refills are horrible! we were happy with the diaper dekor until they changed the refills. that is great to save the environment and we are all for that but they still don't make the diapers degrade and now my sons room smells like poop after one diaper! this is so frustrating! we are now going to have to buy a new system and my son just turned 2 so we were so close to being done. They should at least give you a choice of the old or new reills....bad move

5.0 out of 5 stars Diaper Dekor plus refills, April 1, 2009
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
I absolutely love this diaper system. After reading all of the terrible reviews about the new biodegradable refill bags, I took some of the reviewers advice and called back to the parent company regal-lager. They still have the old diaper refills available. The customer service rep told me that since they have had so many negative comments on the new bags-they have decided to bring the old ones back. They have them in stock but they are not available through retailers. You have to call and order them but they are not going to be discontinued-they will always have them available!! Thank you!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Bio-degradable - Company makes more money, June 14, 2008
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
Unless the diapers are bio-degradable, who cares if the bag that surrounds it is bio-degradable. So now my son's diapers will be everywhere out of the bag. Great, I feel better. Two refills instead of three is another way to say we got ya! Hello Diaper Champ bye bye Dekor!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THESE!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you for making a biodegradable option!!, July 26, 2009
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
I am not sure what the unhappy reviewers are so cranky about. I think these bags are great.

1. I used the non-biodegradable liners first, then these. I did not notice any difference in how stinky they get, and I would have noticed by now.

2. I read a couple of ignorant comments about how it doesn't make a difference if you use a biodegradable liner if the diapers you are disposing of are not biodegradable. IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Conventional plastic bags are estimated to break down in 500-1000 years. When they do, they photo-degrade into microscopic granules which, themselves, are not usable by our natural ecosystems and add chemical pollution to our land and air. Biodegradable products generally break down to components that can be re-used by organisms in our ecosystems in one way or another or, at the very least, won't add to pollution levels. So wherever you can choose a biodegradable option, you are reducing the ultimate amount of bulk in our landfills and reducing the long-term pollution that our children and grandchildren will have to suffer from. Furthermore, the sooner the bag breaks down, the sooner the diaper can breakdown; wherever you can use non-chlorinated or biodegradable diaper options, so much the better. (One option that has worked great for me is "G Diapers"; I recommend checking them out. And there are other brands, if that one doesn't float your boat.)

3. As parents of small children who wear diapers, I think we all have a responsibility to stretch as far as we can to responsibly dispose of the waste we are generating with disposable diaper products. (18 billion disposable diapers were used annually in the U.S. a decade ago, so we can assume it's higher now.) I haven't done the price comparison but, in general, if that does mean spending a little more for biodegradable items, I think we owe it to ourselves and our kids to choose those options. I would encourage thinking of it as a "convenience tax", since we are not opting to use washable, re-usable diaper services.

I want to thank the Diaper Dekor folks for making biodegradability an option for parents who are concerned about pollution and sustainability. (My only frustration is that the different sizes of the pails is not clearly noted on the pail itself so I have ended up with the wrong sized pail liners twice now.)

I just called the company and was able to buy the old, non-biodegradable 3-pack for the plus system. They didn't have the item on their website but took my order by phone. P: 770-955-5060. 21.95 for 3 pack plus.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only 2 refills in the box, April 15, 2008
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
The 3 refill box is much more economical. I thought that I was getting a deal on the normal 3 refill box so I ordered seven boxes but only got 14 bags for 105 dollars compared to 25 bags for 125 dollars which is my usual order of the 3 refill boxes. That's $7.50 a bag as opposed to $5/bag.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Diaper Dekor Plus 2-Pack Refill Biodegradable (Baby Product)
We have been using our Diaper Dekor Plus happily for a couple years, then they changed to these stupid biodegradable refill bags.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if it impedes what the product was designed to do? The Diaper Dekor was designed to "manage odor". These bags do not contain the odor.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if the diapers inside are not? I wish disposable diapers were more environmentally friendly, but the truth is they are not. So a biodegradable bag is a sham to get you to pay more for a "green solution" that serves no real purpose and fails to contain odor.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if the refills are sold in pairs rather than 3-per-box as before? If you were buying two boxes in the past (6 regular refills), you now have to buy three boxes (6 biodegradable refills). I suspect the "green benefit" of the biodegradable bags is more than offset by extra packaging.

They don't contain odor... biodegradable bags are unnecessary when they are wrapped around non-biodegradable diapers... the green impact is offset by additional packaging... And, oh yeah, now they cost more per refill.

Sheesh! Everything about this product change is BAD! I am just glad that my kids are all but done with diapers so that I can FreeCycle the Diaper Dekor Plus and prevent Regal-Lager from making another sale on this declining product that used to be highly rated by parents.
