5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource
Raising a sexually healthy child is a challenge in our world and Debra Haffner's book provides practical, realistic advice for parents with children of all ages. It's important to remember that being sexually healthy doesn't mean having sex! Among other things, it means understanding sexuality enough to decide when, why, how, and with whom to have sex...someday.

1.0 out of 5 stars All of This For Small Children?
I just watched Reverend Haffner interviewed on television to promote this book. Her views seem radical, at best, and hardly in the best interest of children. Five-year-olds need to know about their vulvas, vaginas, and penises. ?? More positively, she clearly believes what she preaches. But, is her approach really in the best interest of children?

With all the negativity towards sexuality coming from so many religious voices these days, it is so wonderful to have a religious leader who is willing to speak articulately, passionately and intelligently about sexuality education and about the role that parents, schools and religious institutions play in supporting the development of sexually healthy adults by educating children in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner. This book is a terrific resource for parents -- I wish my parents had had access to it when I was growing up!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous resource, July 20, 2007
This review is from: From Diapers to Dating: A Parent's Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Children From Infancy to Middle School, Second Edition (Paperback)
With insight, sensitivity, and humor, Debra Haffner helps all those raising or working with children navigate the sometimes choppy waters of dealing with sexuality. As a provider of Parenting Education, I have recommended this book to many, to help them develop strategies for dealing with their children's curiosity and need for accurate information. As a parent, I have found this book to be supportive of my desire to arm the children in my life with the facts and values that will help them cherish their sexuality, and become responsible, sexually healthy adults.

Super book - well researched, well written, and very thorough. Haffner covers just about everything parents need to know, sharing her own teaching and mothering experiences in a most valuable way. By far, the best book on this topic I have read.

Rev. Haffner is on the mark with this book, and I recommend it highly. Her commonsense approach encourages parents to be their children's primary sex educators and gives them the tools with which to do it.

From Diapers to Dating is a wonderful resource for parents. I provide trainings for parents on talking with their children about sexual issues. I recommend this book to parents and give it as a raffle prize in each workshop. The book covers a wide range of issues on parenting children from the youngest years into middle school. In addition to information, Rev. Haffner provides resources to help parents clarify the values they want to transmit to their children regarding sexuality and sexual decision making. This is a comprehensive guide for parents on talking with children about sexual issues.
