Wait...why are the kids so quiet?!?!
Miserlu
I loved talking with him, and reading this book brought back many memories of those talks because it is written down just the way he thinks and speaks.

I would totally recommend this book to anyone literate!

A lovely romp through memories of my daughter and glimpses into the joys I have to look forward to. Found a few of the stories a little repetitive toward the end, but that's just a side effect of reading it in two sittings. Ideally, you take this in doses, while you count backwards from 10.

Author Alex Goetchius does an amazing job poking fun at parenting. He is very witty & absolutely hilarious! It's a book full of short stories so entertaining it's hard to put down once I pick it up! Having 3 kids of my own, I can relate to alot of his stories. I would totally recommend this book to anyone literate! Old, young, man, woman, I think everyone would love this book! My fingers are crossed that Alex writes & publishes another book real soon because I absolutely love his style! Bottom line, this is a must have for anyone who likes to laugh!!

I loved reading "Diary of an Accidental Dad", but it was so much more enjoyable having known the author. I worked with Alex at two companies between 1997 and 2007. While Alex writes of wishing he had a fraction of the energy his son Lucas has, he perhaps does not realize that Lucas is no doubt an apple that did not fall far from the proverbial tree. I loved talking with him, and reading this book brought back many memories of those talks because it is written down just the way he thinks and speaks.

Alex is a very capable and talented engineer who on the surface appeared to be very calm and laid-back...well, most of the time. But it was not hard to see that he had untapped energies - neurons firing from deep within the farthest corners of his brain which a 9-to-5 job could never completely harness. He was only able to bring a fraction of his creativity to his job which I believe made him a restless soul - not as much physically as mentally. In the years B.C. (Before Children), he was like a nuclear reactor with a few control rods removed. His mind a runaway train full of ideas and dreams. I always admired Alex and his wife for their ability to passionately pursue many outside interests as a team (music, art, yoga for instance) in an effort to drain some of that energy they surely must have shared. But I don't think it was ever enough for 'Lex. It took a virtual clone of him in the form of the whirling dervish named Lucas to do that. A way to focus his mind, energy and heart into something I don't think he ever saw coming - parenthood. For someone who calls himself an Accidental Dad, you can bet his daughter was no accident. I firmly believe Alex Goetchius finally found the perfect pressure relief valve in the form of his family and his writing. I am so looking forward to future venting.

I can't even count how many times I was crying with laughter reading this book... and to guess how many times I sent messages to my friends telling them they *have* to read a certain snippet would be impossible.

This is a must-read for anyone that's new to the parenting game. Or anyone that knows someone that's new to the parenting game. Or anyone that knows someone that's a parent. Or, well anyone really.
