The only reason I left 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were some obvious spelling errors. For something so short (and extremely amusing), it's a bit of a let down that it was so hard to catch those mistakes. Otherwise, the content and the format of the story was immediately relate-able, albeit a bit campy. I can definitely take these tips to heart as I have been THAT receptionist.

Oh yes, I have a story! And there are many other ways. It happened to a company I worked for.

I wish I ha had your book when I started my audit, it would have saved me hours. But I would not have learned all the other ways a "bookkeeper" can steal.

I learned. My goal now is to NOT become jaded.

Well written, well researched. Thank you.

A unique book that points out many of the ways a dishonest bookkeeper can take advantage of a trusting Business owner who doesn't have any controls in place. An easy read that gets the point across without the feeling that you need to take notes like you would with a traditional book of this nature.

Contrary to popular belief, your CPA is not specifically engaged to find fraud. This book describes the various ways trusted employees can steal from their employers and ways to prevent it. The tale is told in a very creative way

More About the Author

Hi. I'm E.T. Barton - or Erica to my friends. ("Erica from America" when I travel abroad.) Welcome to my world.

What you should know about me... I'm the funniest person I know. (I know... it's so sad, right? There are no funny people in my life. ;-) )

What you should really know about me is that I am actually a writer at heart, but a researcher by profession. As many writers do, we have to enter the work force to "feed our addiction"... our addiction being the written word. I entered the work force via "the family business," which is bookkeeping. However, I hated bookkeeping, so I decided to make it more interesting. I started my own Office Administration Company around the time my daughter was born, and one of the clients I took on happened to be in the Market Financial Feasibility Research Industry. Although the title sucks, the job description was fantastic.

To put it succinctly, a Market Financial Feasibility Researcher is posed a question - usually having to do with how well a business might do should they add some new element - and the Researcher finds out absolutely everything about that topic, does some beta testing, analyzes all results, and then crunches the useful information into a simple report that anyone in any industry would understand.

Because of that fantastic job, I have done research for some of the largest Fortune 500 companies in the United States and sat at tables with some of the most interesting people. I have heard conversations that blew my mind. And while I cannot reveal names due to confidentiality contracts, I can say that I definitely learned a thing or two.

In 2010, I realized I no longer needed to run the business because my writing career had taken off, so I chucked everything and proceeded to drag my family around the world for the next six months. When I returned to my hometown, it was with a new sense of purpose... to take the skills I had learned in the Research Industry and apply them to ANYTHING that interests me. Once I learn something new and have a bigger picture, I put those things into simple terms that will hopefully make my readers laugh and learn something at the same time.

As a result, my books are about a wide variety of topics - from bookkeeping to business growth, publishing to dieting, and soon there will be even more. All of the topics are well researched and painted in a way that will hopefully make you giggle while showing you another side of things. I do not use any industry jargon just because I want things to be understandable for ANYONE an ANY industry.

So that's me... E.T. Barton, Researcher and Writer.

(And just in case you were wondering, I do also write fiction under the name A.J. Clare. That too has my particular flair for the dramatic.)

Again - welcome to my world. I look forward to getting to know you.
