This review is from: The Diary of Castaways Island (Paperback)
The Diary of Castaways Island starts off with the sad young Lexie Hoskins, who has recently lost both her husband and baby son to illness, and she'd returning from India to England to be with her mother when the ship she was travelling in goes down in a storm. Other than the baby boy of a friend of hers who'd been travelling to England as well, Lexie is the only survivor of the shipwreck, and she adopts the little boys as her own, since he was the same age her own baby boy would be if he'd survived.
They are stranded on an island in which only a family that'd been shipwrecked there before live in. The Ackerman familiy are nice, but Lexie knows that they're hiding something from her when they say that the man David, whom she knows rescued little Peter and her from the liferaft doesn't exist, when she knows that he does.
When she sets out to find this mysterious David, she wanted to thank him for saving her and to maybe even discover why the others didn't want her to know that he existed--she didn't expect to fall in love again. Was this God's plan all along?
All in all, The Diary of Castaways Island is a GREAT story that has happy and sad moments, and you feel so keenly what Lexie goes through as her life on the adeptly named 'Castaways Island' and her sorrows and joys as the castaways try to get along together, survive violent hurricanes, endure rowdy newcomers, and wonder in the end whether they really want to be found by the outside world after all.
It's a MUST READ.
