I have the author's first book (Creepy-Ass Dolls), which I like very much. But this new book is much, much better. "Diary of a Creepy-Ass Doll" is inspired. And certifiable. And a laugh riot. As the title suggests, this is a diary of one weirded-out porcelain princess. Each page is a richly visual and darkly humorous look into the doll's twisted world. And what an incredibly warped world it is. The book borders on brilliant. It's small but it is packed with cleverness, attitude, humor and chills. I have gone through it several times now and each time I discover some new hidden treasure, some clever twist of a phrase, some wonderfully demented graphic treament. This is the best marriage of words, photographs and graphic elements since the book "Zombie Haiku." Outstanding. And yes, I too want a poster of the dog chasing the headless Barbie dolls.

Another gem by the author of Creepy-Ass Dolls! I was anxiously anticipating this new book and it did not disappoint...in fact it blew me away. The photography is amazing! Kudos to Ms. Brooks and Mr. Antilla (principal photographer) for making this Creepy-Ass doll's kingdom come alive. What I love about this book, besides the hysterical (and a bit disturbing) text, is that every time you go through it you catch something new...it's all in the little things. Like the reviewer before me I loved the headless barbies, but my fave is the dolls standing in front of the car with only the headlights outlining them. That picture gave me goosebumps because that is one of my little nightmares that haunts me...which is why all dolls are locked down at night in my house! And if you haven't checked it out, they have a couple of creepy-ass trailers on youtube...just type in "Diary of a Creepy-Ass Doll". Can't wait to see what Ms. Brooks comes up with next!

I received this gem on Friday the 13th (how appropriate is that?). As much as I love the author's first book, Creepy-Ass Dolls, this new one is on a whole different level of creepiness and dark humor. As the description says, it's written from the perspective of a crazy little doll hidden away in the attic and filled with her ramblings and doodles, which are demented and hilarious. And holy crap, the photos. I don't know how they did it, but the photos bring these dolls to life and make them seem like they are actually tiny evil people and not just inanimate objects. In a book filled with brilliant photos, it's hard to choose favorites, but mine are the ones where the dog is chasing the headless dolls, which really seem like they're running away from it. Amazing. The ones with the cat are great, too. Both the writing and photos make this one delightfully twisted and stellar little book.

This was a gift for my brother. He was laughing and couldn't stop thumbing through it while we continued to unwrap gifts on Christmas morning. He said he couldn't wait to show his friends, but they might think I'm a little twisted for giving it to him.
