1.0 out of 5 stars what the......?
I figured I would give mr tyree another chance, but I have no idea what he was trying to do in this book. It jumps from one idea to another. When the book starts to get interesting he jumps right into twist and turns. I think this book will have a sequel but I hope not.

DO NOT BUY, SAVE YOUR MONEY, BORROW SOMEONE'S BOOK WHO HAS ALREADY BROUGHT IT!!!!!!

HE CAN NOT GET ANOTHER CENT FROM ME EVER AGAIN. I HAVE READ TEXTBOOKS THAT WERE MORE INTERESTNG THAN THAT BOOK. IF YOU LIKE BOOKS ABOUT DRAMA, SEX AND SCANDLE THEN DON'T READ THIS. LOL, NO SERIOUSLY I AM THINKING ABOUT TRYING TO GET MY MONEY BACK...BECAUSE THAT WAS A WASTE. IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO GIVE A STAR THEN I WOULDN'T HAVE.....

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay., August 28, 2003

This book, how should I begin...I really don't know. It was okay, but kind of unrealistic.

I think Omar Tyree was trying to make Tabitha Knight who is the main character in the book the black Heidi Fliess.

Tabitha Knight kept a diary of all the men she has been with who were very sucessfull men in all walks of life. She never held a job she made her money by sleeping with these men, that is how she paid her bills. Everything came to a halt when someone got wind of her diaries and wanted them from her to protect their identity and his family.

The story itself wasn't all that. I don't know what happened to Mr. Tyree's writing skills, but they have been very limited lately. Try to get this book from the library like I did, spend your money on something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars No One Is Going To Break The Lock Trying To Read This, July 25, 2003
I think this book started out as a good idea, but who knows what it fell victim to in the process of editing and publishing. Mr. Tyree, much like another favorite writer of mine has a wonderful gift for writing from the female point of view and here again did it well. I guess it would have helped if there had been some story to go along with it,though. I appreciated the sensitivity the author tried to inject into his main character, Tabitha, but it didn't work. The other characters were never involved in the story enough to get to know them. There was a lot going on, but the reader was never let in on it. The plot "attempted" to be suspenseful, but whimpered out at just plain confusing. There were other characters who were only brought into the story at the very end of the book, which made it seem like a rush job. There was also a sad attempt at a bit of profoundness, but that failed as well because we didn't know anything or enough about the characters to know the degrees of good or evil within them. The book tried to come off as some kind of chiller-thriller, but it didn't. I think supermarket checkout trash is the best that this can be dubbed. It fell so short of what I'm used to having come from this author. I think Mr. Tyree's forte is his ability to write about Black culture, love, and spirit. This book had nothing whatsoever to do with any of that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing Entries, July 14, 2003
By

(REAL NAME)
Tabitha Knight is a woman looking for love in all the wrong places in Omar Tyree's latest novel, Diary of a Groupie. Tabitha (aka Toni and a host of other aliases) is a twenty-six year old woman who is supported by the wealthy men in her life. She keeps track of her many escapades with her lovers in her diary. Because of her youthful appearance and ability to charm men, Tabitha is contacted by a private investigator to help bring down a powerful man with a weakness for underage girls. This mission not only puts her life in jeopardy but the lives of the people surrounding her. Tabitha's only salvation may be the one thing she covets most, her diary.

I loved the premise of this book and was looking forward to reading the diary entries of the main character. Unfortunately, the diary entries were few and not that detailed. I was left wondering how the diary ended up being the central theme of the book. Tabitha seemed to be a smart woman who sometimes made bad choices. Some back story would have been helpful in understanding her actions. It would have also provided some insight into her relationship with her foster sisters whose characters were not very developed and did not seem to add to the story.

All in all, Diary of a Groupie was a fast-paced novel that kept me reading to find out if Tabitha was going to land on her feet.

2.0 out of 5 stars still not as good as flyy girl, August 4, 2003

Okay the last book I purchased from Omar Tyree was Sweet St. Louis. I had bought all of his releases prior to that and became disappointed with Sweet St. Louis. I said that I would not buy anymore of his books, but would borrow them or get the from the library. Well when I read the reviews for Diary of a Groupie I decided to give Mr. Tyree another chance. Bad idea. The book ...! The only character that was given any depth was Tabitha even though there were many other main characters. I found myself saying throughout the novel, "Huh? Who is (insert name) and where/when did he/she come into this?" or, "What happened to (insert person/event/thing)." Just not a good book at all. Sorry Omar I will not buy anymore of your novels. I mean it this time.

1.0 out of 5 stars just too boring!!!, June 26, 2003

This is the reason why i do not read any of Omar Tyree's books.
The story meant well but it did not hold my interest at all. I had to push my way through it to finish it. It didn't describe the diary in full. Omar Tyree should have talked more about the
the events of her life as a groupie not just 3 men she bedded!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not That Good, June 22, 2003
Omar Tyree is no E. Lynn Harris and no where close to Eric Jerome Dickey and this book is the reason why. He don't know how to develop a character background and keep the story going at the same time.

I found Diary of a Groupie to be boring. For someone that had been doing this for years, I found Tabby (the main character) to be naive to these men by the way she was catching feelings.

He had a good idea with writing this book, but his delivery was just a bunch of words with no feeling.

3.0 out of 5 stars What the heck was this!?, July 20, 2006

I was a big fan of Omar Tyree until I read this book. I had only read one book of his which is Fly Girl and so off the strength of that I purchased this one. Needless to say, I was disappointed. This book was not a bad read it just was not a good read. The diary was so unrealistic and if you ask me, ol' girl brought a lot of pain and drama on herself. I didnt empathize with the characters and the plot wasnt all that. I would not advise anyone to buy this book. If you are a Omar Tyree fan just support him by checking it out of your local library. Save your money so you won't be upset like me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Highly dissapointed in Omar Tyree, August 10, 2003
Since I read Flyy Girl, Omar Tyree has gone downhill with his books. I bought this book and I couldn't get past the third chapter. That's all I'm going to say on this book. He's another author I won't be buying.
