5.0 out of 5 stars I love Jinky!
I am not someone who normally likes to read but I couldn't put this book down and I couldn't stop laughing. I am buying boxes of the book to give out at Christmas. And that proceeds go to animal rescue groups makes it even more enjoyable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really disappointed
I hate to throw a wet dog blanket over the book and all of the other reviews, but I have to disagree with them. Despite the cuteness of Jinky and his "wife" Finley, this book was nothing but a venue to show off the bodies of and complain about the Hollywood careers (or lack of) of the author and her husband. Photos of the dogs or the dogs with their "parents" were great,...

5.0 out of 5 stars A touching story...and funny as can be. Insight into Hollywood insiders., November 17, 2006
This review is from: The Diary of Jinky: Dog of a Hollywood Wife (Paperback)
Jinky is a deceptive little book, pleasantly so. Just when you think you
totally understand it, it sneaks up on you and delivers a sucker punch of truth about the human spirit. Jinky the dog has lessons for all of us: be grateful for what you have, you could be a whole lot worse off! This sweet, funny, bawdy book is a laser beam into understanding the exotic microcosm of the folks who inhabit Hollywood. However, it has an underlying message for us all, particularly during this holiday season, which is to really love your life and those who inhabit it. Hooray for the rescue dogs!

From death-row in San Pedro to the A-List in the Hollywood Hills ~ I Love Jinky!
This book is hilarious! I think Hollywood can only benefit from a dog's diary. Jinky teaches us all that humans are a nutty breed and that we spend way too much time complaining about things that don't really matter. So much so, that we can barely appreciate the finer things in life. Like the the perfect "Tootsie Roll" poop. Life is full of Stupid Kitties, so what? To know Jinky is to have the answer to the eternal question, "Is the dog bowl half-full, or half-empty?" Especially in Hollywood, there's nothing like a little laughter and gas between friends!
Thank you Carole Raphaelle Davis for writing such a fun and entertaining book ~ and thank you so much for your continuing work in support of animal rescue!!!

I received your book as a Birthday present. I loved reading the book. It was so funny and touching at the same time. The fact that you included so many pictures in your book was just an added plus. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs and wants to be entertained.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really disappointed, April 13, 2011

I hate to throw a wet dog blanket over the book and all of the other reviews, but I have to disagree with them. Despite the cuteness of Jinky and his "wife" Finley, this book was nothing but a venue to show off the bodies of and complain about the Hollywood careers (or lack of) of the author and her husband. Photos of the dogs or the dogs with their "parents" were great, but the glamour shots of the "mom" and "dad" were gratuitous and completely unnecessary. It wasn't written in a particularly clever way and there were a couple of blatantly offensive terms and references used. I'm the biggest dog-lover I know, and applaud the rescue operations that save so many deserving animals and pair them with loving owners, so I thought the end of the book where that is the focus was the best part. All the rest could have been skipped.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first book written from a dog's perspective, March 14, 2010

Brief background:

Audio books are my passion because I can listen while walking our dog Lilly, driving her to the dog park or even sitting in the sauna. However, I also spend some time reading every day. This is the first one I've ever read from a dog's perspective. I know there are a number of them available, but I was never drawn to one.

Review:

It was the context of experiencing a dog eye's view of living with a Hollywood couple that intrigued me. My good friend is the grand daughter of a legendary movie director and many of her family are in show biz. For years she would tell stories about behind the scenes activities, but seeing similar events from Jinky's viewpoint not only validated what I thought were exaggerations, but underlined my contentment with just being normal.

I can't remember the last time I felt compelled to read sections from a book to my wife, let alone to include our two Papillions. There are truly some priceless accounts that were as humorous the second time around as the initial read. The compilation of photos create a range of emotions from Jinky's, let's just say "unusual" appearance to those of his female caretaker, that might require the use of oxygen for some elderly (especially page 95).

Thrown into this mix are the trials and tribulations of a well known comedy writer who's enduring a bit of a dry spell, to say the least. After reading this review, you might wonder how all these elements fit together. Well, they do and as an extra bonus there's an important message or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood Jinky, from dead dog walking...to jacuzzi, January 17, 2008
By
This review is from: The Diary of Jinky: Dog of a Hollywood Wife (Paperback)
This book was a great take on how the life of one dog destined to be destroyed was saved, found a wife, lived part-time in France and yes...was able to jacuzzi whenever the mood struck him.

Carole's ability to capture Jinky's plausable thoughts on what it was like to endure callousness from uncaring owners who abused him and "threw him away" into the joy of being given a second chance is uplifting.

This book is a testimony to those who can not speak for themselves and gives the reader a look at how saving one life destined for death can be turned into a life that dreams are made of.

Jinky Tells All

Have you ever wondered what your dog was thinking? Well this dog tells all in a really funny tail (oops) about a terrier who goes from down on his luck to the good life. Wherever there's a scrap on the floor of Hollywood, Jinky is there. He's been everywhere from Cannes to Cancun, but he is still the every-dog, taking on the elite and effete in a dog eat dog business! If you like Hollywood, see it from a dog's eye point of view. And if you don't like Hollywood, you'll know why after you read Jinky. I loved it!
