This great expose of the Big Pharma industry is a must have if you're simply fed up with doctors' instinct to prescribe, rather than treat disease. In many cases, she exposes that fact that disease may be non-existant, and diagnosed only because there's profit in the on-going treatment of easily-diagnosed diseases.

My own situation with pharmaceuticals and the industry was validated by this well-written book by an insider.

I highly recommend it!

Before you ever take another prescription drug you should read this book.
It's informative and well written without a hint of hyperbole.
It could possibly save your life!

Carlson is not a writer, but this exposé of the "traditional" medicine 'treat everything with a drug' mentality and the engineers behind it is important information that everyone should have, especially parents.

At first the book was engaging because it was the narrative from a pharmaceutical representative; even the headings were titled as diary entries, which is quite clever. After the first half, the book starts to lose its touch and becomes a surface discussion about the ills of drugs. I agree with the premise, but I bought this book to get a full insider's view of the "legal" drug world. The first half of the book provided that, but the second half did not, and so I cannot in good faith rate it more than 3 stars.

Although some points raised in this book suggest 'fact-based', many comments go on to read like unsubstantiated hyperbole. Some broad sweeping statements sadly detract from what could have been balanced or insightful comments on the author's short tenure working as a drug rep.
