"A sizzling novel full of unexpected twists....Miasha has done it again."
-- Karen E. Quinones Miller, bestselling author of Satin Nights
About the Author
Miasha is the author of four previous novels, including Secret Society and the Essence bestseller Mommy's Angel. She lives in Philadelphia with her family. For more information, visit her website at www.miasha.com.
Miasha arrived on the literary scene in 2006 with her debut novel, Secret Society to raving reviews and an array of national press including BET, CBS, CN8 and The Wendy Williams Experience. Coined "A Writer to Watch" by Publisher's Weekly, Miasha became just that. Featured in national magazines like Essence, Vibe, Philadelphia Magazine, Jet and later in Elle (the first urban literature author to grace the pages), Miasha has been very visible. Her presence was felt even stronger just four months later when she released her top selling sophomore novel, Diary of a Mistress. Known for having extravagant release parties, the Diary of a Mistress launch included a fashion show and a comedy show featuring Kevin Hart. It is no wonder fans of Miasha's have come to expect a high level of excitement and intrigue from the writer superstar.
In 2007, Miasha released her third title, Mommy's Angel, a heartfelt drama close to home. Having grown up with both parents addicted to drugs, she wrote Mommy's Angel at the early age of fourteen when she was able to channel the emotions the main character was going through in the book. This authenticity landed the book on the best sellers list and Miasha on the cover of Black Expressions. Less than a year later, Miasha celebrated the release of Sistah for Sale, a cinematic read about a girl growing up in Miami's sex trade. Averaging two books a year, Miasha was making history in the literary industry--much the way she did when she first entered it.
Unlike many first time authors, particularly in the urban arena, Miasha did not have to self-publish before getting a deal. Instead, she garnered interest from several major publishing houses causing a bidding war to ensue. Publishing powerhouse Simon and Schuster was the highest bidder, granting Miasha a six-figure deal. Since then Miasha has been a trailblazer, putting out back-to-back best sellers, including a sequel to her first and most provocative novel, Secret Society titled Never Enough. Following Never Enough was Chaser, a story about a dangerous love triangle within the underworld of wreck chasing, and her most anticipated novel, 'Til Death, the third installment to the Secret Society trilogy.
In addition to releasing seven titles under Simon and Schuster, Miasha contributed to Diamond Playgirls, an anthology published by Kensington Books. She also went on to release an eBook independently, titled The Return of Chatman; bringing forth the launch of her very own eBook publishing company, Fifth Avenue Entertainment. Through Fifth Avenue, Miasha not only publishes her own works but the digital works of top writers in urban fiction and in November 2010 she published the company's first paperback novel, When the Cake is Made, which she co-authored with Real Housewife of Atlanta, Lisa Wu Hartwell. The novel follows the lives of three women when they intertwine after three disaster weddings and a dress burning ceremony.
A vivid imagination and an extreme work ethic, Miasha has not just limited herself to books. In 2008 she and her husband Rich Coleman, produced the stage play adaptation of Secret Society. The show sold out every date and venue and went on tour in 2009. In 2010 she became the first author with an iPhone/Android app. Yet again Miasha has proven that dreams can come true despite adversities. And this mantra is what she promotes as heavily as she does her brand. Forming the Ask Miasha Foundation, which assists underprivileged youth academically, economically, and socially, Miasha is steadfast about giving back and encouraging people not to dream their lives but to live their dreams.
Fashion forward, trendsetting, and a marketing genius, Miasha stands out in the book business for her style and promotions tactics as much as for her brilliant plot-twisting tales. But overall, she stands out as a dynamic individual whose intense efforts and hard work is displayed in everything she throws herself into from her businesses to her family, which is comprised of a husband and two sons.
Miasha and her family reside outside Atlanta, Georgia.
Filled with loads of unexpected twists, "Diary of a Mistress" opens with a scenario that leaves the reader eager to dive headfirst into the story. This extremely well-written story sheds light on the lives of Carlos and Monica, in the midst of celebrating ten years of happily wedded bliss and Angela, a woman who typically dates married men and shows no regard for the pain she may inflict on the unsuspecting wife. This time around she believes she has found the love of a lifetime in Carlos.
Angela is determined to get her man, and will stop at nothing short of destroying the life Carlos has built with Monica and their small children. The source of the affair is a cleverly-written diary from Angela which is sent to Monica upon returning from a surprise romantic getaway with her husband. In the diary, Angela details the alleged romance between she and Carlos. Monica's response and the consequences of her actions to receiving the news of the affair easily leave the reader stunned. The critical impact on her family is massive.
This story leaves the reader gasping and filled with raging shock at the extent one woman will go to for her own personal satisfaction. Miasha's writing captures realism, leading the reader to feel that they are witnessing this mind-blowing story unfold before them. This book is a quick read, one that can be completed in one sitting. It should be of interest to all who enjoy that which strays from predictability.

Diary of a Mistress familiarizes readers with two outlooks on one story.
Angela Washington is the habitual other woman. She's an Executive VP in marketing, whose life has been filled with instability since her own catastrophic marriage. A participant in a laundry list of precarious events, now Angela wants to finally have happiness at any cost. While on "break", sees that she only has one chance left to seal the deal.
Monica Vasquez is the doting wife, mother with twin sons and is employed as a Pre-school teacher. To outsiders, Monica's life is grand. Although it's been 9 years, Monica remains thankful and grateful for all that she's been blessed with.
Carlos just so happens to be the man in both women lives. He is indeed the perfect mate. He's loving, concerned, gentle and a dream of perfection. Carlos has unselfishly provided both women with hope for the future.
When a diary filled with tidbits of a scandalous affair is unlocked, the lives surrounding it will change. Angela's attempt at happiness will be Monica's loss. Will this unfortunate trial of events be rectified before it's too late?
What do you get when you combine a diary and an unsuspecting wife? Minimum when you consider the deliverance vs. possibilities. Yes, Diary of a Mistress is a quick read, but, disappoints with attempts to cast doubt and suspicion while twisting the facts relating to a forbidden affair. I would love to see where an author actually took the road not traveled while selling the chronicles of a mistress.

Monica is a woman that is truly blessed. Her husband Carlos is devoted to her and their children. When Carlos surprises Monica with a much needed romantic getaway, she realizes that their love is stronger than ever. But Monica's world comes crashing down when she receives an unwelcome package in the mail. This package contains a diary that questions everything Monica thought she knew about her husband and marriage. Angela has wanted nothing but sex and good times from the married men she's slept with for the last 5 years. Her attitude changed when she met Carlos. Angela thinks he is the perfect man for her and will stop at nothing to get him. Carlos is focused on his marriage to Monica but Angela doesn't care. She will get Carlos even if it destroys everyone around her, including herself.
Diary of a Mistress is a captivating novel by Miasha. I liked the overall theme of this novel, namely how much should a wife trust her husband. Should she believe the words of her husband or a diary from a faceless woman who is his mistress? Miasha masterfully captured the wide range of emotions for both Monica and Angela in this novel. I felt the sadness, anger and confusion of Monica as she tried to sort this mess out for the sake of herself and her children. I also felt the resentment of Angela. Like her previous novel, Miasha continues to bring the non-stop drama in this story as well. Readers will be on the edge of their seats as this story unfolds. Diary of a Mistress is raw, entertaining, and does not disappoint. Miasha is well on her way to a successful career.
