3.0 out of 5 stars It's All About The G.A.M.E!!

I have heard Marvin Sapp's music in the past, but never got around to purchasing any of his cd's. I heard "One Thing" and liked it - but then I heard "You Are God Alone." This song is truly a blessing. I still didn't buy the cd yet. I then saw an hour long special on the WORD channel where Marvin performed "You Are God Alone", "Miracle", "Worship Medley", "Glory To The Lamb", "Lift Those Hands" - All I could do was sit there in all the presence of the Lord and praise Him for the message He sent forth through Marvin. You are missing out on a blessing if you let this cd pass you by. He also has his son singing background with him on the video - it is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blessed is the Man Who Dwells in the House of the Lord, May 5, 2004

Praise the Lord for such a servant. I don't know alot about Brother Sapp but I do know that he knows the Lord! I can tell in his testimony as he sings of the great works and praises to our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. The song, "One Thing" is amazing. It is straight up scripture (Psalm 27). The song that really got me and makes me cry and worship is "You are God Alone!" WOW! It got my attention the first time I heard it. It stayed in my spirit for a long time. I had to find out who the artist was to get my hands on that song. I dream that song sometimes. It is so powerful! It is blessed to have a song that ministers to our God. Blessed! I visited my sibling in Christ's website and he lets it be known that he is not a singer that happens to preach...NO, HE IS A PREACHER CALLED BY GOD THAT HAPPENS TO SING! Blessed truly blessed! "Dairy of a Psalmist," what a fitting title!

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise and Worship at Its Best, July 17, 2003

If you can't make it to church on Sunday morning for any reason, you could get your praise, worship, and shout on with this album. Sometime his music moves me to tears. After his previous cd "I Believe", I didn't believe he could craft such a masterpiece of praise. However, "Diary of a Psalmist" is more of a praise and worship album. He blends contemporary lyrics with more traditional arrangements. When I say contemporary, I simply mean more complicated musical and lyrical arrangements. Most traditional songs are very repetitive with very little in between. This is clearly one of the best gospel albums I have ever purchased. I slept on Marvin for years because I didn't like his first album produced by Fred Hammond (both of them should stick with more traditional arrangements and leave the new age stuff to younger artist... Fred's more contemporary productions don't work well either). Plus, the production is top notch. So often you purchase live CDs and the choir and artist sound as if they are standing miles from the microphones and you hear more from the audience than the artist. That isn't the case here. Please purchase this CD, post a review and let me know what you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album of the Year, January 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Diary of a Psalmist (Audio CD)
This has to be the album of the year!!!! This cd has really blessed me. I never have been a big Marvin fan, I meaned I've always listened to his music but never just had to have it. I heard him preach in my local town and after hearing his anointed preaching I had to buy a cd. Diary of Psalmist is the most anointed cd I heard in 2003. It just takes you into the holies of holies. Before going into your daily meditation and studies let Marvin take you into the presence. It is awesome!!! This is cd is definetly for the worshiper. It has some awesome praise songs as well. If you want an anointed cd get this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lord Have Mercy!!!!, December 20, 2003

This review is from: Diary of a Psalmist (Audio CD)
Marvin never lets me down! Everytime I say, can he get any better? A year or two will go by and he does just what I though he couldn't do. Get Better, This CD is a must have. As wonderful as I thought "I Believe" was, it really can't hold a candle to "Diary of a Psalmist" This project truly is his best. And believe me, I have all of them!! I've had this masterpiece since the day it released and still have to play at least one song per day. I won't even discuss his vocals, I mean it's Marvin. Anyone who has heard him sing whether it be with Commissioned or solo already knows that the man can sang. Honestly, he's my favorite male gospel singer. Anyway, the CD starts off with a church stomping jam "One Thing", then he forces you to "Lift Those Hands" and then he goes into straight worship "Miracle" is one of my favorites on this cd because I was able to relate to it. Next, "You Are God Alone" and then the "Worship Melody" that proceeds it you have no choice but to be in the presence of God. Next, he trys to soothe and calm your spirit and I imagine his spirit too with "Hallelujah" Then, the tempo is up again with "Unrestricted Praise" However, I advise anyone who may be going through something or just might be in a bad place in their life not to listen to tracks 3 thru 6 WHILE DRIVING!!! Those songs are straight up Worship and will have you thinking of all of His goodness and your hands may come off of the steering wheel or you'll be crying. SONGS 3 THRU 6 are at home songs. You know what I mean??? If you enjoy Marvin's singing, you must hear him preach. He is awesome! God really uses him to deliver his word. I have several of his teachings/preachings. Well, actually I have just about anything Marvin has out. If you don't have "Diary Of a Psalmist" you are really missing a true blessing and cheating yourself. If you do have it, be a blessing to someone else and get it for them!! You'll truly be blessed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anointed !!....Hypnotizing !!......, April 28, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Diary of a Psalmist (Audio CD)
I listened to this ANOINTED CD on a long Atlanta commute home from work one day. I loved it so much, that I ordered the DVD. It arrived 3 days later and I watched it with my mom and 2 year old daughter. We all loved it. My 2 year old loves it so much, she would rather see this DVD than look at "Barney" or "Boobah". She MUST see this DVD every morning and as soon as she walks in the house from pre-school, she yells, "Mommy, Wanna see Marvee Sapp!" She even calls the remote that controls the DVD player "Marvee Sapp". As soon as I she hears the music, she screams in excitement and jumps all around the room. If I turn off the DVD player or try to change the channel, she cries hysterically. She can now recognize Marvin's voice in other compilations, ex. The Commissioned Reunion Live CD.

I purchased this CD on Amazon in September, and I just start nearly every morning after prayer and into my shower with "One Thing" that I desire from the Lord, and that will I seek after!!! It gets me going for the day, and keeps me in praise. The whole CD is off the chain, I definitely recommend this one to anyone who is looking for a new praise and worship CD, this is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Commendable, March 30, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Diary of a Psalmist (Audio CD)
The first time I ever saw Marvin Sapp was at my church in Dallas at the Potters House. He was teaching during a Wednesday night bible study and sharing his testimony. I think it was right before his album "I Believe" was released. I remember him singing a few songs from that album, and there is something about his voices that rings the sound of a true Worshipper. No matter how good a gospel singer sounds there is just something different about a person who is anointed to sing and who has a testimony attached to every note. I just purchased the CD entitled "Diary of a Psalmist," and the track "You Are God Alone" is just so Awesome!!! Even if you don't know how to worship God this song will bring you to your knees and you will suddenly find yourself in the presence of an Awesome God!!! And the words to the song simply speaks well of God-such Praise and Adoration! God Bless you Marvin for allowing God to use your gifting and your voice to bless the world and the nations. I pray that God's hand would continue to be upon you and your family. Keep on growing strong in the Lord!! God Bless

This is truly an awesome praise & worship CD. Marvin is truly an anointed man of God who allows the Lord to use him. You will truly be blessed by the message. This CD should be purchased along with Total Praise Live (this ministry is out of Brooklyn, NY - Emmanuel Baptist Church).

3.0 out of 5 stars It's All About The G.A.M.E!!, December 10, 2003
This review is from: Diary of a Psalmist (Audio CD)
The G.A.M.E! Kevin Bond and his band produced the entire album and Steve Lawrence's (the guy who sings "Your Majesty" on T.D. Jakes album) vocal arrangements make this album an instant classic. Oh yeah, Marvin Sapp has a wonderful spirit that allows you to get psyched up about praise & worship. His vocal style is unique and he still possesses that same aura he made ever so popular with Commissioned. Though very energetic through the message and the musical and vocal concept, as an artist, Marvin lacks "one thing that I desire": his creative input. He and his albums would thrive more if he fully unleashed his ability to write and compose. Even still, it's a stellar production!!
