5.0 out of 5 stars Two kids - ages 10 and 14 - burned through book November 15, 2012
By Mark M.
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
OK, I have a 10 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. My experience with the series is limited to the movies and flipping through a few pages. Here is our experience with the book, "Third Wheel."

The moment the book arrived I had to break up a minor fight over who got the book first. We went to a 15 minute oven timer to determine turns. After an hour my son relented to my daughter. She read the book, cover to cover, in the first night. She reports it is the best book in the series.

My son took two days to read it. He generally would rather read sports magazines, but thoroughly enjoyed the book. He rates it as solid in the series, but not the best one ever (unlike my daughter).

Well spent money. If you know the series I'm sure you know what you are getting. From a Dad's perspective I like it WAAAY better than the Dork Diaries (not quite as snotty).

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite book November 15, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This review is from my son Daniel. This is a review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid 7. It is the latest book in the Wimpy Kid series. It has 217 pages like the rest of the books. There are only two months in the book, January and February. Both of them have holidays like New Year and Valentine's Day. The color of the book is brownish red. I like the book because the title page has a picture of Greg's Uncle Gary. It was my favorite book because in the story there is a restaurant called Corny's. And it is mentioned at the beginning and the end of the book. I also like it because they mention someone named Johnny Cheddar who is one of Manny's many imaginary friends. The story was my favorite one because they ended the book to be continued. I recommend it to people who like the fifth and sixth books and people who are looking for something funny to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUN-FILLED, EXCITING, FUNNY!" November 13, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Bestselling author Jeff Kinney has done it again as he entertains throughout this charming story in the seventh installment of 'Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.' An exciting series that both children and adults love, including me. It's Valentine's Day in Greg's middle school, and to the guys and girls, it's a Big important event that they will forever remember, especially at this age. Greg and his best friend are out- and- about, sweating with worry to get a date, and the longer they hunt, the more nervous they become. The search becomes top priority as they look for girls to escort to the date, leaving Greg with good news as he finds one, and Rowley is left out in the cold. But, as the thrilling evening moves forward in a much anticipated wait, things are about to change. Is there love in the air, and who becomes the lucky guy? How does the dance turn out, and who gets what they wished for? The author delivers 224 pages of pure delight as we follow Greg and his friends in a heartwarming and funny story, filled with unexpected surprises, and twists-and-turns. Another winner has been created in this beloved series with adorable characters as the author portrays the ups-and-downs in life with all its challenges. Very Enjoyable, Educational, and Highly Recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, Fast Read November 13, 2012
Format:Hardcover
As a school librarian, I love the Diary of a Wimpy kid series. They are funny, and the kids want to read them over and over, which is awesome. I was eager to read the newest edition, especially since I knew it would be about a school dance. I know Greg is in middle school, but fans of the books are as young as first grade. I wanted to see how the topic was handled, but I should have known the dance would be more about Greg's mishaps than romance.

Although it's not the best book in the series, I still enjoyed the latest Greg drama--getting locked in the laundry room while babysitting, having his mom come to school to make him take off his jacket, and even Greg getting kicked out of kindergarten. And that's all before the senior citizens crash the dance. Each situation is humorously written, and fans will enjoy getting to know a little bit of Greg's past while seeing him worm his way out of his current predicament.

I've read some reviews that mention the topics jump around, and while I thought the beginning of the book that compared Greg's childhood to Manny's was a little long, I thought Kinney tied the ending back to the beginning, which was a nice touch and great conclusion to the story.

Fans of the story, both young and old, will enjoy this latest book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wowee-Zowie! May 19, 2014
Format:Hardcover
Diary of Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel is the most hilarious book I have ever read. It is about a boy named Greg Hefley who gets bullied, embarrassed, and horrified. He has a lot of morons in his class. His dad acts like a teenager, which is really weird. His little brother Mandy is very annoying to Greg. He has a best friend named Rowley. He has another brother named Roderick who also annoys him. Greg really wishes that he could become famous.

This book is magnificent. I like it because I feel like I am related to Greg. My favorite part is when Greg is in the girl’s bathroom in his underwear! That is so ridiculous! My other favorite part is when Greg sits in poo!

Have you ever gotten tingles of giggles when you read certain books? Well, this book is one of them! You will get so many giggles you may end up on the floor. This is the best book ever! I’d give this more than five stars if I could.
