Product Description

Comedian and entertainer Joanna Ryde takes you back to the beginning of her journey along the path that took her into the world of showbiz! Diary Of A Ryde is set in a time when stardom is a distant dream and Joanna is a normal girl on Dublin's Northside looking for fun and maybe, just maybe, a bit of romance. Hilarious characters and situations paint a wonderful picture of modern Ireland as seen through the eyes of one it's brightest young things as only she can tell it!

It's nearly January and I have this idea for one of me New Years revolutions. I'm goin' to write a diary!

See, I'm about to turn 18 and as normal as ya think I might be- a regular fun lovin', good lookin' girl from Finglas on the northside of Dublin, me friends are anything but. Jasmin's as smart as a scented candle, Concepta's still pretendin' to be on every diet goin' and Tracy's started to think she's posh coz she goes to UCD. At least I still have me best mate Bernie.

On top of all of that, I've to deal with another bunch of weirdoes in me job and don't even get me started on me family. Clearly I just do me best to get on with things by goin' out with the girls, havin' a few drinks and tryin' to find a fella, although that hasn't worked out very well lately!

Overall, I'd say it's gonna be just another normal year in the life of Joanna Ryde. To be fair, things really can't get any weirder, can they?

From the Author

Heya!!!!

So it was the start of 2005 and I decided to keep a diary and somehow it's now a book! Before I won Alternative Miss Ireland, before I became an finalist on The All Ireland Talent Show and before I began writin' a weekly column in The Munster Express, I was just a regular girl growin' up in Finglas on the Northside of Dublin! Diary Of A Ryde is full of laughs, madness and even a little bit of romance! RAWR!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Bloody Poetry, December 12, 2011
This review is from: Diary of a Ryde (Kindle Edition)
Not since Roddy Dolye has there been such an accurate description of contempary Dublin ...not in the rare auld times but the bloody here and now times. Few books actually make you laugh out loud but this book will make you LOL so much that if you are reading it on public transport you will get some very odd looks.

A book to lift the miserable austere recessionary spirits. One bit of advice and I am sure Joanna would appreciate it and agree. Keep a spare pair of knickers in yer Playa Del Bossa Gucci ' Lucky Lucky' hand bag.

Pennys obviously.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious read!, January 16, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Diary of a Ryde (Kindle Edition)
This book is a funny read into young Irish life, it has the woes of young dating, the north versus southside divide in dublin. For irish people it a funny read as you'll recognise some of the characters from you own circle of friends and even find sayings you'd use yourself, "only mafis". Anyone in the 25-35 age bracket will recognise some of the places it mentions and bring back memories of your own teenage years.

International readers will get a taste of the famous dublin wit and a new knowlegde of the northside dialect! Lighthearted, fun read.

More About the Author

Joanna Ryde is an all-singing, all-dancing comedy sensation from Finglas on Dublin's Northside, described by some as Ryvita, Dublin's answer to Eva Peron. Her rise to superstardom began in 2007 when she won the prestigious Alternative Miss Ireland and began performing in venues throughout Ireland.

Appearances on TV and radio followed, most notably in 2010 when she was chosen as a finalist on RTE's The All Ireland Talent Show prompting judge Daithi O'Se to suggest she had the nicest legs he'd ever seen. She someday hopes to represent Ireland or Liechtenstein in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Joanna currently lives in Waterford where she has a residency in the legendary Dignity Bar and can be found online at www.JoannaRyde.com or on the beach in Tramore on nice days. She writes a weekly column in The Munster Express, the biggest selling newspaper in the South East of Ireland. Diary Of A Ryde is OUT NOW!!
