5.0 out of 5 stars Diaspora Missiology: Theory, Methodology and Practice, May 2, 2012
This review is from: Diaspora Missiology: Theory, Methodology, and Practice (Paperback)
Dr. Enoch Wan, a seasoned missiologist has made an excellent and indispensable contribution to address the globally exploding phenomenon of diaspora. Though it claims to be "an introductory study on the theory, methodology and practice of diaspora missiology" it is more of a substantive primer in its field. It helps understand the fundamental theoretical concepts and framework, the inter-disciplinary approach needed to be taken and potential of the impact of diaspora ministry.

The numerous charts, diagrams and demographics illustratively explain the extraordinary synthesis of concepts. They alone are worth the price of the book. The eight case studies constitute nearly two thirds of the book. Each case study presented by practitioners provides convincing proof that diaspora missiology is a current reality on the frontlines. They should persuade readers of the effectiveness of diaspora strategies and provide motivation to pursue them.

The volume is a timely gift so this new field of Diaspora Missiology of which Enoch is certainly one of its pioneers and champions. Enoch has taught, mentored, published and engaged in diapora missions in several arenas of the world. It will be no surprize if this book is readily welcomed and used as one of the textbooks in ministry training and be a worldview-shaping tool for Christian workers everywhere.

I am writing my doctoral dissertation on a related subject and this is a absolute necessity for any missiology student or researcher. Enoch Wan is the primary research on the subject of Diaspora Missiology. The books manages, as much as possible, to give a concise understanding of the subject and offers a great deal of other resources throughout the footnotes and bibliography. This has really helped guide my own research and I could not recommend it higher.

This has been a much needed volume in helping Diaspora faith communities center their understanding as to the sovereign purpose for their existence. It should be in the hands of every leadership team that works with Diaspora faith communities.

This is a fantastic work by my professor, Enoch Wan, at Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon. It is wonderful to learn how God is using the movements of people from their homelands to bring them to Jesus. Great book. Very thorough study. I especially appreciated part 3 on methodology.

This is a great book challenging those of us who care passionately about Christian world missions to modify our strategies. I especially liked the chapters that detailed this concept in different countries and/or people groups. The methodology part was less interesting, even though I am a Statistics teacher.
It is a great book to see what God is doing in the world today.
