I had a very expensive pillow just like this one 20 yrs ago and paid $145 for it, lost it, so I found this one Diastar Premium Density Memory Foam Pillow and it was $19 and it works just as good or better than the expensive pillow. My neck is pain free now after using this after 1 week, I had neck pain bad. I am a side sleeper, and I Use it every night with larger edge under my neck when on back or side.

If you need to re-leave a pinched nerve because of degenerative cervical disc, just put the narrow edge of pillow toward your feet under back and have larger edge under neck and hang head back onto bed, sleep with neck tilted back it works great for that also, I use it this way sometimes because I have a degenerative disk between c5 and c6 and doing this opens up the disc spaces and allows blood to flow in disc spaces and helps release pressure on nerves and pain, using ice 2 times a day for 15 minutes each time also helps to reduce nerve irritations that are pinched in areas like this, in any area of the spine.

I am not a Doctor but this worked for me!

I have been having back & neck problems for a long time from sleeping on a bad mattress and pillows that had no support. This pillow relieves the pain and tension immediately when I lay down on it. Especially with a memory foam mattress ;) it's like sleeping in Heaven.

I've been using this memory pillow for 6 months and I have no more problem with backache and neck pain when I wake up.

Pros:

* Conforms to the shape of your body, removing stress points and providing relaxing sleep.

* Maintain upper body temperature, keeping you warm in cold weather.

Cons:

* Some people are offended by the foam smell. It will take some time [around 3 months] before it wears off, but not completely.

* If you are in warm place, you may end up waking with sweat as this foam retains body heat.

Check the size that fits you. The size is in the description, make sure the item will conform to your upper body and will not sag to uncomfortable level. Your head should maintain a natural straight line with you back. The item I bought is just right for me since I am small built.

I bought two of these. one for myself and one for my 60 year-old mother. The one I gave her is incredibly soft and well worth even the MSRP for the pillow.

The one I kept for myself on the other hand is incredibly firm - so much so that it's unusable to me. I have a somewhat smaller head for a man, not all that smaller though, and this pillow won't mold to my head, in fact it barley indents.

I did notice the smell the others are talking about but it wasn't nearly as bad as some would have you believe and honestly it mostly went away within a minute of removing the pillow from the plastic.

The case the pillow came in is quite good actually. It's soft- think of the material babies onesies are made of- but I'm not confident it will hold up to multiple washes- it's quite thin.

Shipping was fast. I ordered it on the 1st received it on the 6th even with the Labor day holiday.

To sum it all up.

I'm not sure if someone put one of the "premium density" pillows in a" standard density" box or what but having bought two of the same density(standard) and feeling how completely different they are this is the only logical conclusion I can come up with other then 'Diastar's' quality control being completely nonexistent. Which, considering the one I gave my mom is so good, I find hard to believe.

I would send mine back but A) it's probably not the sellers fault. B) it would cost about the same to ship it back as I paid for it. And C) I think it will make a good "leg spacer" pillow... I'm not thrilled with the product I received for it's intended purpose but it should serve a purpose and since I'm a "side sleeper" it should serve me quite well... This is the sole reason for the three stars.

In any event I was planning on buying several more of these pillows for assorted family members but I can't take the chance of 50%, or more, of them being unusable to their prospective recipients.

Bottom Line -

If you get a good one I can't see how you'd be disappointed. But thats only if you get a good one.

So, I purchased this item with the expectation of receiving a memory foam pillow. According to the box the pillow came in, that is what I received. Upon opening the box, I discovered that the pillow was actually just a large lightweight brick that smelled like a hobo's foot. I knew better than to order an item like a pillow online, but I wasn't expecting to be this disappointed. Do not buy this item. People who say this item is great must be getting paid to write good reviews on crappy products or they are clinically insane.

This item came packaged well, sealed and new. However, it smells like mold, and nothing removes the smell. Perhaps it was one defective product, but it is unusable due to the odor.

Secondly, it is far unlike any memory foam pillow I have had. Even a "standard density" foam pillow should feel more like memory foam than a rock.

Not a fan.

there were some other reviews that complained about a smell - they're right. there is this weird smell that you can't really get rid of. Also, the pillow doesn't give any neck support. I ended up using my existing pillow. Since this pillow was cheap I did take a gamble of purchasing it but not worth even trying it out.

I love it the small not to bad it goes a way after a will it sleeps so sound feels so nice its real a good buy love it and I,m sleeping like a baby now nice and sound

These pillows are not even ok.they are like a brick and i could not get comfortable tried stacking 2 tried putting 1 under and over a regular pillow...the cover was ok..i paid for 1 pillow for what about a gallon of gas is here in illinois...but i still sent them back...decided to put that into my tank....

This is a great pillow to sleep on. I am very comfortable every night. It is a far better than a regular pillow because it is so firm.
