I used DE in my home becuase of bedbugs. It has been about a month and i havent seen one since. I reccommend food grade DE as a safer non-toxic pesticide. In the home, left undisturbed it should work for months, I have never used this outside.
I reccommend buying a specific pump to be used with DE and also a face mask for application. If you have bedbugs, first get treated by a professional and then use DE as a preventative. Ask how to apply for maximum effectiveness (yes this works if done correctly). Also visit bedbug websites to learn more.

My back yard is bordered by some very dense shrubbery and brush, which is a fertile breeding ground for creepy crawlies. With this stuff I'm able to create a cordon which keeps the bugs out of the yard and away from the house. As others have noted, you do have to replace it when it rains. I don't see this as a huge problem, however, as it really goes a long way. I estimate I can probably get a couple of dozen treatments from the one bag. A good product, especially if you have pets or small children and don't want to expose them to dangerous poisons.

Works great. I used it around the perimeter of the house as part of a two step method to rid my home of sugar ants that invade every spring. First tier was a boric acid & sugar solution put into baby food jars. I'm happy to say we no longer have an ant problem and it was a huge relief to find a safe, eco-friendly and effective product for the outside of my home.

Not a bad product, but, as with any powder washes away when it rains. On the plus side It temporarily rids the yard of fleas & ticks without poisoning the pets.

Product worked after a few weeks and the animals seemed happier. Killed fleas in the house over a period of three to four weeks without using on animal flea killers. I liked the product for it's organic nature and non harmful properties to my animals, children and home. A little hard to use in the house at first. I recommend putting it in places animals sleep, not everywhere as it gets in the air and makes a layer of itself all over everything.

Absolutely the best green, poison-free answer to roach/ant/flea problems. (For use outdoors). I treated around the house and under the porch and have no more opportunists hitching a ride inside.

I used DE years ago with a carpeted house successfully to get rid of fleas. We have mostly hardwood now, and even wearing a mask and goggles, this stuff went everywhere when I vacuumed (even the carpet). The entire house is now under a white layer. My lungs are killing me and I was up all night with poison control because the pain and lack of oxygen from exposure was so severe I thought I might die. I would not recommend using in houses with wood floors, without professional respirators, or in houses with children as their stuff is entirely coated unless you bag it all up first. We have vacuumed extensively and mopped 3 times in less than 12 hours with various things-Mrs. Meyers, water, vinegar & water mix to remove it and it will not get off the floors at all. It looks like a cornstarch factory exploded. This has been such a huge ordeal for us to clean the DE mess up, I will never use it again.

I have spent 6 years in Afghanistan and came home with some kind of rash on my arms and back. I did some research on the "net" and heard that certain oils will kill mites (if that is the cause) and heal skin so I ordered several different types of essential oils to experiemt with. In the meantime, I came across Diatomaceous earth. Interesting. I hate doctors since my experience with them has been they cause me more harm than I am in at the time, never solve the problem I am experiencing, and cost me money. I am also one of those people who can walk outside and every insect in the county has to change its flight plans so it can come and put it's little nasty feet on me. No lie! I walked into a friends house and had to leave after 10 minutes because I had about 100 fleas crawling around inside my nylons. I showed them why I had to leave and unfortunately they got offended because it really is embarrassing to have someone tell you there are lots of bugs in your home. Diatomaceous earth kills fleas and ticks and other things that need to stay outside, without harming pets. Then, I found out people actually eat this stuff (imagine a mouthfull of talcum powder----oh right! mix it with food or drink--duh) Needless to say my sister thinks I am a little weird and doesn't let her kids stay with me(they are in college!) Since this dirt is a natural ingredient in making human beans, I thought I'd try a spoonful a day to see if the reports are correct. I only just received it on Monday and it is now Saturday night. I haven't eaten this miracle dirt long enough to see any results. I did order a 5lb. bag so it will be awhile, spoon by spoon, to finish it off.
I did powder my sister's dog B3D (big dumb dumb dog) and the two rabbits with it and they did stop scratching, and I put it on me like talcum powder because I always feel like there are bugs crawling on me. It made that feeling go away. The advertising claims it kills dust mites in your home, so I believe it really works in that area. I sprinkled it around a tree that is always crawling with big yellow ants, but because it has rained almost every night, I didn't get the results I wanted concerning the ant population. Will have to try again once we dry out here in N.C.

if you like organic gardening this is the stuff to use for getting rid of the pests, it works for fire ants too. You just have to make sure you sprinkle it dry on the ant mounts or the ant area. We disolve it in one of these pump and spray containers and spray the plants. Make sure you shake the container before every use, since the diat. earth tends to settle down on the bottom. The only drawback is you have to apply the diatomaceous earth after every rain, but for a healthier enviroment it's worth.

I ordered two 5-pound bags this summer when I was in the middle of a bedbug crisis. One was visibly smaller than the other and weighed only 3 pounds. When I contacted AG Organics customer service, I was told that a replacement bag was on its way. It never arrived, and I have had no response from AG Organics despite numerous attempts to contact them since.
