4.0 out of 5 stars Kill Bed Bugs in no time! Virtually any insects as well.
If your room is infested by Bed Bugs and are looking for solution, this is all the thing you need. It works by scratching off bed bugs' exoskeleton so they get dehydrated and die. I tried it on bed bugs as well as roaches, they both die, but roaches die after few days while bed bugs die after merely a few hours!

This is how I test it to make sure it actually...

1.0 out of 5 stars Messy and does not work!
A friend mentioned D.E. for a problem I'm having with garden pests. When I researched it online, it sounded almost too good to be true, which it was. I bought mine online, from Earthworks Health and spent $30 ( including shipping) plus bought the duster from a local Lowe's. I followed directions exactly and after 2 weeks, my plants are still dying from the damn garden...

This is how I test it to make sure it actually work. Most will just throw them in a jar of DE (diatomaceous earth) and watch them die, I think that's too much and not true in real application. Because insects will most likely walk over the DE and hide, so they actually won't expose to the DE continuously.

I caught a lively adult bed bug and put it on a piece of paper, put a circle of DE around it. So when it finally walked over the circle I caught it immediately and put it in an open jar. It walked fast at the first few minutes, and after like 10 minutes it just didn't walk at all unless I kicked his butt. After a few hours I know it was dead because it was so dry that one of its leg came off after shaking the jar very gently!

Avoid paying thousands of dollars for pest control, most of them do not know how to control bed bugs actually. They never take it seriously to really find all the hiding place because it is not their house. They don't give a darn.

Shipping is expensive but the total would be just $60 comparing to hundreds or thousands of dollor you pay for pest control. The reason I gave 4 stars is while DE really works, it does make your room messy. If you can stand the white powder all over the place then this is the perfect solution for killing bed bugs. Cleaning up the powder is actually pretty easy though. Just vacuum them up. Don't worry about leaving any residue, since they are natural and non-chemical. I do recommend leaving DE in crevices, corner, around baseboard and under your bed. Put many of them everywhere in the kitchen if roaches is a problem to you. Leave them and they work for you quietly and efficiently.

Sorry for this unorganized review. I rarely write review for most products I bought, but for this thing I just couldn't help. Because it does works!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works but not over night!, June 10, 2010

This product does indeed work but if you are looking for a one day fix move on....it works in 2-4 days depending on conditions etc.Not for those seeking that "Quick Fix" but for those that want a NATURAL approach and don't want to use chemicals with all the negative effects!

5.0 out of 5 stars DE works, just differently, May 6, 2010
This review is from: Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag
Diatomaceous earth works by abrading the exoskeleton of insects and by sticking in the creases of their skeletons. Finally, after exposure, the insect is dehydrated (leaks out) and dies.

It doesn't work fast, but it does work completely.

I haven't been able to find this stuff locally, so a 50lb bag at this price is great. I will be using it for my chicken coop to keep the smell and bugs under control.

I read a lot of reviews for Food Grade DE and its functions on the farm.

So far it's helped greatly with an alpaca who has had a hard time with mites. I sprinkle out 2 cups of DE in the alpaca's favorite dust bath spot and they self medicate. It's been about a month now and I'm starting to see hair grow back on the problem alpaca. I like it because the whole herd is treating themselves not just the 1 alpaca and I don't have to be involved and stress them out.

I shred straw for bedding for my horses and alpacas and noticed that mites and other bugs call the bags of shredded straw home. Now I sprinkle a little of DE over the straw and my bedding is bug free.

***** GREAT FOR WATER TANKS!**** I have a 110 gallon water trough for the horses which always gets icky a day or 2 after a dump and scrub with red algae. Adding 1 cup of DE to the tank keeps the tank algae free. I've been able to go up to 1 month now without having to dump and scrub the tank. Now the only reason why I'm cleaning the tank is due to leaves, grass or a horse who splashes in it.

Feed through parasite control: I'm testing this out now for parasite control. I still give the alpacas Ivormec once a month for M worm but for 5 days once a month I dust their grain with DE to help intestinal parasites. So far I have yet to have any animals (horses, alpacas, dogs, cats) with parasite problems since I started but I would like to do this for a full year or 2 before coming to any conclusions.

I have hardly used any of my 50lb bag so I'm sure I'll have this for a long time and look forward to finding more uses for it.

Came quickly, sealed inside a plastic bag (presumably to keep dry or protect from rips), but the mouth of the bag had a bunch of dead moths crammed into its folds (sealed no time recently, and kept in questionable conditions) and the brown bag was upside down in the plastic bag (hard for a lady to maneuver).

I had no idea what I was asking for when I went for the 50-pounder, but I expect it will continue to be useful in the garden and around the garage. I hope to convince my mother to call off the Pied Piper one day soon. If using in the home, go easy on the stuff. It only takes a little, and making it too airborne gave me a heck of a sore throat.

I had Bedbug issues. This does exactly what it says. The bugs were gone in a matter of about a week and They've been gone ever since. It's been over a year and still none. This brought me peace of mind and anybody that has had to deal with bedbugs knows what I mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars DE Food Grade, June 9, 2011
This review is from: Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag
I love this product! It's great to know that it is not only effective but safe for human use as well as use around my pets. Of course, some precautions do need to be taken when spreading DE food grade, but I feel like they are very minimal compared to most insecticides. See the supply at <...>
