5.0 out of 5 stars A woman who sings what many womens' hearts feel!

3.0 out of 5 stars got better..
at first I only liked Dicen que yo soy and Lo nuestro w/ Marc Anthony, then after a while I began to like all the songs, they are all special in their own way, can't wait to see her latest.

I discovered India about a year ago while watching her on television, and immediately was in awe! Her sound his addicting and her voice is full of emotion! There are few female Salsa artists in the music industry, but because of The Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, she has opened the door for current and future female salsa artists. Indias' CD seems to strike a cord with many women who are getting over a relationship. Her "No me conviene" is really helping me get over a relationship. I no longer feel sorry for myself, but feel sorry for him! Whether you are a salsa lover or not, this is a MUST CD to listen too. I guarantee you will get hooked. Who would of thought a girl from Texas would love Salsa music? This Texan knows that Salsa is not just something you dip your tostada in!

5.0 out of 5 stars Que bella es La India!, May 26, 2000

I had never heard India's work until I heard samples from Amazon....I liked how she mixed the flavors of R&B, salsa, and soul....Mi muchacha boriquena sounds like a Latina Aretha Fraklin with ten times as much soul...My song from "Dicen Que Soy" has got to be the title track.....The lyrics are great and speak right to the heart about being an independent woman who is not always understood in society....this is a refreshing change of pace...compared to the countless other salsa songs that speak only of the ups and downs of love gone good or bad....Las cantantes otras son excellentes tambien.....:) :) :) I love the combo of soul, latin beats and India's powerful pipes! Sing on, girlfriend...You make me proud to be a latina and a woman! And most importantly a human being.....:) :) :)

Lots of danceable tracks. India is gutsy, and sensuous. This is personally one of my favorites from my salsa collection. Buy this if you want to dance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Latin Soul. Love her voice., September 25, 2005

Thank you Musica for introducing me to this album. I can listen to this India CD all day and never get tired of hearing her sing. She has such a soulful voice and sing with great expression. I am also an Africa American female who cannot speak spanish(haven't since high school) but I can sing her songs. My favorite is O Ella O Yo. I love to sing that song. I especially love the way she adds a salsa twist to George Benson's R&B classic, "I Just Wanna Hang Around You". On her album "Sobre el Fuego" she also adds a latin twist to Chaka Khan's R&B Hit "Through The Fire". If La India comes to your town, you must go & see her perform. Musica & I went to see her when she came to Philly for the 4th of July Welcome America celebration in 2004 during the Salsa On The Parkway event. She has soooo much energy & knows how the work up the audience. La India...keep the songs coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love her so much!!!, September 4, 2004

My mom introduced me to La India a couple years ago, I think when I was about 16..I am now 20 and I have'nt stopped listening to her since..My mom introduced me to the song, Ese Hombre and I played that song out..But then she had to give me the album!! I was so done after that..Im a black female but I love all kinds of music, and salsa is no exception..La India has such a passion in her voice that I call her the latin Teena Marie (who is my favorite singer)..I cant describe her voice..She just takes you places and she has such a range..Oh my god!!! Im so in love with her voice..You cant go wrong with La India..I recently saw her live at a salsa festival here in Philly and she sounds just as good live if not better...She's talented, sweet and beautiful..Get the album if you dont have it..My fave tracks are basically all of them...But Im still hooked to Ese hombre..She murders that song and tears the man down all at the same time..Very passionate..Get the album please!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars No One Can Tell It Like She Does...., May 28, 2001

I got the chance to see La India perform at a small NYC club in summer 1997...she was about 5 five away from me on stage! She is brilliant and so, so talented! She performed songs from this album [Dicen Que Soy], plus the club masterpiece "Love and Happiness." You can do no wrong with La India, or this album. My favorite is "Que Ganas De No Verte Mas" -- in her songs she always expresses so perfectly the bitterness of betrayal in love. If you've just gotten dumped or ... over by your man, this is the album for you to let it all out. Nothing will make you feel better about that sorry S.O.B. than a few spins of this disc, honey! Trust me, I know!

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful music with a splash of passionate singing, March 18, 1999

This is a wonderful Salsa CD with lyrics as explosive as the music. "Ese Hombre" in particular is the "I Will Survive" of Latin music. This CD is a must for any Salsa CD collection!!!

I'm very honored to see one of the newest and fastest rising salsa singers from my homePuerto Rico. I love her music, every word hits each caribe woman in the soul. She makes you want to sing out loud. I'm telling you my latina sisters' La India is worth every penny. P.S. Marc Anthony and her are great!!! Also check out her new CD,she does a duet with the Reina Celia Cruz.
