This book is an absolute must read and keep. I first picked it up 36 years ago while taking a Washington Saturday College Class in Nutrition at George Washington University. It, along with my 93 years old Instructor (also a retired Dentist), quickly turned my life around. It is filled with the most eye-opening and factual information along with Dick Gregory's natural wit. If you're considering taking responsibility for your health this book will place you on the right track. It is down to earth, guaranteed to hold your interest and then some. I am now 57 years old and even though the book is nearly falling apart I wouldn't trade, sell or give it away, ever. It is out of storage now and I can't wait to read it again.

First bought this book almost 40 years ago, when I first became a vegetarian. I've always loved Dick Gregory, and this tome is a quick & fun read, packed with good advice, and great to give to anyone contemplating a more healthful change in their life! Not much else to say, except I highly recommend it....

Of all of his books, this one should constantly remain in print. This book talks about fasting and the raw food diet well before it became the popular thing it is today.

They should put this book back into print. Based on what I've read from other raw "gurus" and such, I'm wondering whether a lot of their principles may have actually come from this book, as it was one of the first books published on the raw diet. I have been fully raw for five months and actually went raw cold-turkey, but I still found this book extremely beneficial. It is not only an entertaining read, but very insightful. Not only does it have dietary suggestions, but it also has provides some great background behind the transitioning process.

I previously only knew of Dick Gregory as a comedian, but this book schooled me on much more than humor- it enabled me to see the thought, research, and introspect he devoted to his journey. Surely, this could be very inspirational for others. I finally purchased it a high price because I got tired of hopping from second-hand bookstore to second-hand bookstore in hopes of a lucky break, but I am glad I made the investment. I may just laminate it!

My friend loaned me this book in 1976 when I was a student at San Diego State University, a few years after it was published. It was the first time I actually realized that it was possible to live a vegetarian lifestyle. I tried it and I liked it! I am a vegetarian or vegan today and I encourage others to give it a try. A well-written and informative book!

I bought this book when I was 19 or 20. I will be forever indebted to Mr. Gregory for my healthy lifestyle. I discovered this book at a time when my health wasn't too good. I had moved away from home and started eating unhealthy foods. This book and the books that are listed in the book have kept me on track throughout the years. I will be 60 next year - and I am blessed to be healthy. I truly wish that this book could be republished. Mr. Gregory was truly ahead of this time. I also recently discovered his mentor Dr. Alvenia Fulton and found some of her books - awesome books!

This was a witty and very informative book! As a very new vegetarian the options are pretty extreme but he did an awesome job of explaining why and what we should eat for optimal health.
