How About That Cover ?,
By Tim Dobinson (Townsville Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dick: A User's Guide (Paperback)
Well well well, I never thought I would enjoy reading a book about the most valued and loved male appendage, but boy was I wrong. While being quite witty throughout, Dick is an informative and easy-reading book that throws light on to a whole range of issues that I (and I think most guys) would not otherwise know or think to ask about . Full marks to the authors for putting together a great read.

Straight talk and humor,

A very informative book, which answers many questions, puts to bed some common myths, and tackles a sensitive subject with good natured humor and expertise.

Dick - good for users, owners and health professionals,
By Paul Howat (Cairns, Queensland Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dick: A User's Guide (Paperback)
Although I am a male and a doctor, therefore possessed of a vested interest in the subject, I discovered many things in this book about the penis I was unaware of. Humorous and informative, it makes excellent reading for the 'owner', 'user' and is a also good resource for doctors to recommend for their patients. Subjects are presented sympathetically, and although humour is used it is never at the expense of the (sometimes) unfortunate men in the case histories. The aim is rather to demystify and render the topic less embarrassing for the reader. Serious health issues are encompassed as well more cosmetic issues such as that hoary old chestnut - size! This book is a good antidote to endless spam emails offering penile enlargement which prey on men's insecurity. Congratulations to the authors for providing us with a funny, informative manual on the male member.

Size Doesn't Matter?,
By Marcus Hansen (New Hampshire, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dick: A User's Guide (Paperback)
The size of this book is not indicative of it's power to please and satisfy. These chapters quickly cover lots of information, things that are not only interesting, but essential to good health and responsible relationships. The tone throughout is upbeat, and reassuring, with lots of humorous wordplay and individual anecdotes to make entertaining what could otherwise have become didactic and preachy. The language is easy to understand. These two women seem to have had a lot of fun writing about our "special feature", using the words we use when we are not feeling self-conscious. They do all this while still being respectful. In fact, the whole message of the book seems to be respect. With it we can better know who we are, and better take care of ourselves.

Basically Informative,

I got this thinking the "doctor" association of the author would lend more authority & substance to the book than it did (at least for me). Don't get that comment wrong though, the book is very sound & covers all the basics any memeber of either sex should know. But; alas, that is about all it does besides throw in some very good humor. I think I was looking for something more contemporary, that included more on male sexual response & psycology as well as the variability of female views of male sexuality; the book is very thin in this area. All in all it has to be said; however, that this work should be read by anyone and every one that may have anything to do with its main topic (which should include about 99.999% of us).

Easy to read and has humor coupled with a
lot of knowledge. A great book for all adults regardless of age and would be good for sex ed classes in school.

straightforward information that's a bit jokey,
By silvis s "silvis" (New Hampshire) - See all my reviews

The last few reviewers seem to be missing the point (no pun intended) a bit. This is a book of health information that's up to date and matter of fact but written in a light kind of way that makes for easy reading and understanding. I read it first in its Spanish edition then got it for my British boyfriend - there were a few things in it he didn't know...It translates well into Spanish (name: Pene) Id really recommend it fo teenagers and sex education for older teens, a field I work in. Not quite five stars but close. Silvia S.

a good read for couples,
By Queenie Kwong "Queenie" (Las Vegas NM) - See all my reviews

I got this book for my partner after I read one of the other books these ladies have written - I was a bit apprehensive in the store especially with the cover but I found the information really helpful and funny and so did he. It helped with a little problem we'd had and I'd recommend it for anyone in this situation. It gives good information without making juydgments and the stories are easy to relate to. being able to buy it on line means you don't need to feel embarrassed about it either. Queenie.

good health guide,

J.Santos is right, but so are the authors. They wrote this book in 2002 - and what they say about circumcising baby boys was and is absolutely right - American pediatricians don't recommend it because of possible complications. Since 2002 there's been more knowledge accumulated about the benefits of circumcision to adult men in the prevention of HIV/AIDS etc This is a different (but important) issue. Maybe if there's a second edition of this book the circumcision chapter will be updated. Meanwhile I think it's a good straight-talking health guide, which is just what it claims to be.

I was given this book by my partner for my birthday - what a cover! But I was pleasantly surprised, it was a lot better than I expected, and has been very helpful. There are bits of me I never even knew I had!
