5.0 out of 5 stars Great summary of Dickens' Work
This is a great book to have while reading Great Expectations. It helps break down the writing that Dickens' uses to help you understand the book better. I would recommend this book to anyone reading Great Expectations.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't recommend this in place of reading the book!
Well I thought I would be lazy and not read the actual book for English class, so I decided to read the Cliff's Notes instead. Well let's just say to all of you fellow lazy students, I got a D on that test. So, read the book and use the notes as a guide to clear up fuzzy areas in the book that you don't understand!

Pip-- a normal little boy-- wants to be a gentleman b/c of a girl he met named Estella... Well Estella treats him so wrong along w/ her adopted mother Miss. Havisham which raises her to be cruel to the opposite sex.. Well one day ... well you just need to read this book ---- It's a thriller and a romantic but also sad in a way...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cliffs Notes Saves You TIME!!!!!!!!, February 23, 1999

I wouldn't want anyone to go throught what I went through and read a big thick boring book, so reading Cliffs Notes is the best! It gives you everything you need to know on tests. My friend only read Cliffs Notes and managed a B on a quiz. But if you're in a higher class, you should read the book because it might asks you stuff you need to read the book to know. Since the book is written in old english, and it takes a certain person to understand what's happening in the story, I would recommend reading Cliffs Notes with the book because it tells you in MODERN ENGLISH what's happening. Cliffs Notes helped me out a great deal on quizes and tests.

4.0 out of 5 stars HE who has not pleasure this book must be intolerably stupid, March 26, 1999

This review is from: Dickens' Great Expectations (Cliffs Notes) (Paperback)
Great Expectations continues to be a timeless work of literature. Those who do not understand and appreciate its beautiful simplicity must be unable to comprehend a book of this magnitude. If you actually read the book ( not the one with the yellow and black striped lines across the cover), I promise you will enjoy it.
