This review is from: Dickie R/C Radio Control Porsche Cayman - R/C Frequency Varies (Toy)
I bought this car for my son's fifth birthday. I was looking for one that would be more fun and last longer than the el-cheapo cars at big box stores, also one that uses a rechargeable battery pack instead of a ton of individual batteries. This car seemed to fit the bill.

The car comes literally screwed to a piece of styrofoam in a thin carton with a window. There is a Try Me button on the box which makes the car demonstrate its features. In the packaging, it doesn't initially look like a $70+ toy.

The car works as advertised, though, and is quite fast... it goes about 5-6 mph at top speed. The steering is not proportional but rather works by moving the wheel servo at a fixed speed as you activate the left or right turn feature. This makes it a little hard to get the car going exactly straight, and turning often involves making quick nudges to the controls. Not a big deal, but it would be hard to do any precision driving through an obstacle course with this car.

The headlights, horn and brakes are remote-controlled and work great. The horn is especially authentic and louder than I expected. The car even has working turn signals that activate automatically when you turn.

The attention to detail in the modeling is great, but the car is rather lightweight and would not survive a 5 foot drop without cracking. On our slightly bumpy street, the car does bounce a little at top speed. My son managed to break off one of the sideview mirrors running the car up against a curb. Fortunately, the car's base extends past the front and forms a bumper that has protected the car from his head-on collisions with curbs.

The five speeds work well, and you can back up and turn at the same time for peeling out... lots of fun.

A single charge of the battery is good for about 50 minutes of continuous driving. The range of the remote is about 40', not bad, but the car goes so fast that it can get out of range rather quickly if you aren't careful.

Once or twice we've had an instance where the car will stop in place and not respond to the remote until you move a little closer and wave the antenna around. Holding the antenna vertical seems to give the best results.

By the way, extra battery packs are available online and cost $7-9.

Overall, my son and I are pleased with this car and would recommend it.
