Product Description

Dickies quality has been built into every product since 1922. Fits universal rear bench seats. Easy to fit, this product adds comfort, style and protection. Heavy duty and hard wearing.

Customer Reviews

It is made of heavy polyester material that should wear very well.
Forrest Wildwood
It does have holes for the seat belt latches (it is not for use with seat belts that are built in to the seat itself), including flaps that cover up the latches.
Ann B. Hibbard
Would probably work on a full size back seat but definitely not a universal fit as stated.
Brenda Sterling

This Dickies bench seat cover is made to be durable and water resistant, and is designed to cover bench seats that don't include seatbelts (which isn't mentioned in the online description at Amazon even though a large percentage of rear bench seats do have seatbelts). It's not hard to install over the seat. The surface is thick, like a canvas, not soft. When new it has an unpleasant chemical odor since it's 100% polyester. I would prefer a natural fabric like hemp that doesn't outgas a synthetic smell. This cover is good for protecting the seat but it doesn't have a smooth feel and can't be kept covering seats where people will sit and use seat belts. Thus, it has limitations that make it less versatile than I'd expected. It's OK for some people but I'd prefer something else.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have two large dogs (both 70+ lbs), who make keeping a car clean impossible. I have a quilted seat cover, but it isn't waterproof. I have been looking for a sturdy, water-proof cover that couldn't be torn, and that would fit securely, regardless of the moving and tumbling of the dogs, and that gave access to seatbelts. The Dickies Heavy Duty Rear Bench Seat Protector met many, but not all, of those needs.

Dickies says their seat cover fits a "universal bench seat". I'm not sure how they define that, but from my experience it is not the integrated rear bench seats seen in most sedans and SUVs. Instead it is probably something more like the free-standing bench seats seen in Jeep Wranglers, etc. I tried this cover in a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Camry, neither of which has a freestanding seat.

Material- This Dickies seat cover is composed of heavy-duty canvas, with a waterproof backing. One of my dogs was kind enough to vomit on it on the test drive, and the other covered it in mud, and I can say it is relatively waterproof. (Although I have yet to try actually pouring a bottle of water on it.) The canvas material is also relatively sturdy; when seat-belted in the dogs tend to twist around, pull, and scratch at the seat, and they have not torn it at all. Although it is not particularly attractive, and likely wouldn't win any comfort awards for people, those weren't characteristics I was looking for; if they are important to you, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Secure fit- As shown in the product photos, the cover fits over the seat, and depending on the height and depth of your seats, drapes down the front/leg area a variable amount. Depending on the length of your seat, and how you attach the cover, it may also drape over the sides.

I purchased this seat cover because of the high quality material. However, I was very disappointed when I received it because it didn't even come close to fitting my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. It was way too short in the width. Item needs to be specified in what vehicles it won't fit.

I got this for my boyfriend's work truck which has just a single bench seat. Not a perfect fit but good enough and much better than the embarrassing pastel colored blankets he was using. I have the Dickies bucket seat covers in my Kia Soul during summer when we do SUP paddling shuttling around with wet clothes. They are water proof! I know this because a water bottle leaked on the seat and created a puddle which came in contact with the edge of my MacBook and ruined it. That oversight cost me $1200 so be aware. Waterproof = liquid will pool. Super easy to take off and clean. Fabric is very tough for the price.

If you are looking to protect your seats from adults or pets, this could be perfect. It was easy to put on the seat of my SUV but the seatbelt buckles didn't line up great, so you couldn't use the middle seat. It also doesn't have holes for the latch system, so it will not work if you have carseats. I purchased this to protect the whole seat from my two children but once I got the cover on, I realized that I couldn't put the carseats back in. I was really disappointed as this was a cheaper option than ones designed for carseats and this covered the whole back seat as opposed to just under the carseat.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Maybe it would work best for a pick up truck's bench seat? I tried in both of my Nissans, one of which is a minivan with triple head rests, and it didn't fit at all. It said it would fit seats with headrests, so I had hope. Nope! I had issues too with seat belt placement as it was really a stretch to get in the correct spot to have access to latch a seat belt. The other thing that you might want to know is that if you have a third seatbelt, you won't get a good fit either.

On the smaller Nissan, I had issues with seatbelt placement not being conducive to getting a tight fit. The seat actually isn't free standing and I tried (in van) to get the elastic to snap around the seat somehow, but it was a no go.

I don't have a pick up to try it in, but I truly think ideally this would be a best fit for that.

I also wasn't a fan of the texture. It was a bit rough!

I thought this would be perfect for the rear bench seat of my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. The results were less than satisfactory. Hopefully some of my details will allow others to know if this will work for their vehicle.

- The product is of good quality material. It feels durable, and I can see it being easy to keep clean. Material-wise, I would love to have this on every seat in my vehicle that a child might sit in!

- The fastening, however, is not great. The elastic straps are what make this product less universal than advertised. The seat has to be of a certain height and thickness for the cover to wrap securely. The back of my van seat is probably a good three to four inches too short to work, and I could not find any way to keep the cover securely attached. The same is true of the bottom. Although the seat was of an appropriate depth, the mechanisms of the seat itself prevented the elastic straps from finding any form of secure grip.

- It does have holes for the seat belt latches (it is not for use with seat belts that are built in to the seat itself), including flaps that cover up the latches. This is helpful for hot summer days when those latches get horrifically hot!

We did manage to get it to fit somewhat securely in the back of our car, but that was tricky.

Bottom line: I think it would be most useful for a rear seat similar in size to that found in an extended cab truck, if it is made such that straps can be slipped securely around all four corners. Otherwise, keep looking.
