5.0 out of 5 stars Tough enough for U.P. winters.
This jacket is a great Jacket. It's very similar to the more famous Carhartt brand but a fraction of the price. I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan and we are home to some infamous winters but this jacket can withstand the cold. Some may not like it because it has no hood but as for myself, I prefer to wear a good hat in winter. I've noticed that Carhartts and even...

3.0 out of 5 stars sizing a bit off, especially for tall
I like this jacket but tall isn't really sufficient for a tall man. i'm 6'3" and the sleeve are 2-3" too short. it's torso cut is also short too. and the medium is not really that big. i would recommend ordering a size up.

I've noticed that Carhartts and even my other Dickies hooded jacket tend to fade very rapidly from washing. Especially the dark tan ones, even after one wash, they lose like 15 to 20 percent of their original color but I know some people like this because they become softer and less stiff. The Eisenhower, or at least the charcoal color one has yet to do this to me after about 5 or 6 washes. Overall, this jacket is a great jacket especially when you look at how low priced it is. But a word of caution before buying: The sizing of this jacket is a little odd. If you buy the size you would normally buy, you'll find that every part of the jacket fits great except the length. It is rather short around the waist so I'd suggest buying one size up because you won't notice hardly any difference in the way the rest of it fits and you'll appreciate the extra length. It does have and adjustable waist strap though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too small, too short, March 10, 2008
I bought this jacket for a friend who wears a 3x regular size. However, this jacket was way too small. I think Dickies jackets are typically small - I ended up ordering him another one in 4x size and it fit much better. This jacket also sits at the waist, which is a little short for the current style. The jacket is a very nice quality however. I would recommend buying a Dickies jacket, but buy it one size up and with a hip length instead of waist length.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad, March 11, 2009
By
Bad as in F***ing awesome! This is a slick jacket...I love it. It fits where and how it should, its comfortable and its got an inside pocket which is nice. Its built tough with good quality material. It looks rad and it is WARM! My only complaint, and I use that word lightly, is that pet hair sticks to this jacket like no other. So buy a lint roller and buy this jacket.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Proletariat Fashion Statement, December 19, 2007
This review is from: Dickies Men's Lined Eisenhower Jacket (Apparel)
I bought my Ike jacket seven years ago after seeing one in the window of a uniform shop. I like the clean lines, the low price, the industrial strength, and the working class vibe of my jacket and I've gotten compliments on it. Only recently have I started to notice the fabric wearing at the corners but it still has a few years of everyday wear left in it. To keep it clean I just put it through the washer and dryer with my regular laundry. If you want a light but warm jacket with a trim silhouette that transcends class boundaries this is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars great jacket, size deceiving, January 8, 2008
I bought this jacket for my dad who is 6'1" and 275 lbs. He can usually wear a 2xlt, but this jacket, while very well made wasn't big enough. I liked it enough that I have ordered the 3xlt, hope it fits him because the quality is great for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR, January 11, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT WORK JACKET AND I FINALLY FOUND IT ...THE LOOK OF THIS JACKET IS AWESOME AND IT FEELS GREAT.ITS ACTUALLY LIGHTWEIGHT BUT WITH THE DIAMOND PATTERNED LINING ITS REALLY WARM.I COULD WEAR THIS JACKET ALL WINTER AND IT WILL BE WARM ENOUGH.. EVERY REVIEW I READ SAID TO GET THE NEXT LARGEST SIZE FOR A BETTER FIT AND I AGREE.I GOT A 2XL AND WHILE ITS JUST A TAD BIG,I THINK AN XL MAY HAVE BEEN A BIT SMALL.THIS JACKET IS ONLY WAIST LENGTH,BUT THATS WHAT I LIKE SO I DONT SEE AN ISSUE WITH IT.THE ZIPPER IS HEAVY DUTY WHICH IS A BIG PLUS AND THE PEN POCKET ON THE SHOULDER IS THE SIGN OF A JACKET MADE FOR REAL WORKERS...I CANT RECOMMEND THIS JACKET ENOUGH SO JUST GET IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Middle weight Jacket!, April 27, 2011
I work in Afghanistan where it does get cold so it's heavy enough for thier winters but light enough to wear during the fall and spring cold snaps. I beat this piss out of this jacket! It gets washed in an industrial machine with a detergant that is just south of battery acid and it still looks nice and the seems have held up fine. Great jacket!

3.0 out of 5 stars Busted Zipper After First Wash, November 1, 2010
This review is from: Dickies Men's Lined Eisenhower Jacket (Apparel)
I had this for a few months, and yesterday I washed it for the first time in the washing machine. The instructions--that aren't in English, but I can read Spanish--on the tag recommend to wash the jacket this way. Anyway, after the cycle was done, the zipper track was missing a few teeth and the zipper pull was ripped off. I left the jacket unzipped when I threw it in the wash, but that's how I've washed all jackets in the past and never once had this problem.

For a company that makes heavy duty clothing, I thought the zipper should have been able to survive at least one wash cycle.

To replace a zipper track and zipper pull is going to cost me about $30 and at least two-weeks of waiting at a tailor. I'm probably going to buy a new Eisenhower and donate my old one to charity.

So, either get this jacket dry cleaned, don't wash it, or take the chance and wash it with the zipper zipped.
