5.0 out of 5 stars VERY VALUABLE SOURCE FOR QUICK LEARNING
I found this book to be very valuable in looking up terms I had forgotten when asked by my assistant who is taking accounting classes to become a certified accountant. As the company I work for is a small business, often I take for granted the accounting principles I use daily for over 30 years. What they may mean to a person who is learning from me and how I can teach...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rating for Kindle Version, Paper Edition Rocks
I'm a management accountant and I've been a very loyal keeper of this little dictionary for a number of years. It rests in an exalted spot right next to my laptop on my desk at work. I was very excited to see a version for my Kindle as that meant I could take the book with me anywhere on business or at home.

I was very disappointed with the Kindle version...

I found this book to be very valuable in looking up terms I had forgotten when asked by my assistant who is taking accounting classes to become a certified accountant. As the company I work for is a small business, often I take for granted the accounting principles I use daily for over 30 years. What they may mean to a person who is learning from me and how I can teach her is different than what is taught in many classes today. This book is a quick reference to explain what I am teaching her, plus what she is learning in class. I purchased this book for my assistant and after reading through it I ordered another for myself. I highly recommend this book to have in every office and for any student. I have found no other book to be so concise and helpful for quick reference. You will be glad you have this book in your library of accounting materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars User friendly and practical, November 27, 1999
Organized in a simple and direct manner, this book has proved to be an invaluble reference. I am in the process of writing a procedure manual for the AP department of a large public school district and this book gives me exactly what I need to impart an accounting vocabulary to my readers. I recommend this book to anyone who works among, or has frequent contact, with financial professionals. Once you know what the word means, the rest falls into place.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is contagious!!!, January 9, 2007
This little book puts almost everything at your fingertips: formulas, examples, abbreviations, acronyms, not just definitions. A must have for any accountant or anyone studying the subject. I showed this to my old accounting professor and he wished this was his.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for all people, accountants and non accountants!, November 4, 2001
A dictionary of accounting is the best idea for an accounting reference book! And above that, it was done very nicely as well!

If you're an accouting student, a professional accountant, or encounter a few accounting terms every once in a while, then this book is great for you! It's very comprehensive and informative!

A great value for your money!

I was very disappointed with the Kindle version. You pay very close to the full price but the navigation is just not there yet. The closest to a word you can get is the first letter and you have to leaf slowly through the pages until you arrive at the word you want. Not desirable for a quick reference book at all. Kindles e-ink is wonderful on the eyes but the technology is still a lot slower then quickly leafing through a book.

If you want a quick reference stick with the paper edition.

This review is from: Dictionary of Accounting Terms (Barron's Business Guides) (Vinyl Bound)
I will keep this brief and to the point. I just started taking some accounting/finance classes and was a bit overwhelmed by all the new vocabulary. Flipping to the glossary in the back of a heavy textbook was inconvenient.
I bought this little, but exhaustive dictionary and now it sits next to me as I study. It makes the perfect companion to my texts. I am very happy I bought this (and others in the series) and will be even happier to put in on the shelf as an addition to my growing finance library.

Several editions ago got me through college as a major in accounting. Now working as a public accountant, I have recently updated my old edition to this one. Highly recommended. Has brought me a lot of success over many years and everyone who I have shared them with and get the chance to use them - they buy them.

On a current project I am having to write business cases for various project segments. This book helped to keep our definitions aligned throughout the project.
