From Library Journal
Compiled by the New Horizons Equine Education Center, this new dictionary of horse-related terms will be a useful reference for horse owners, riders, and anyone whose work involves equine vocabulary. It includes definitions for words relating to tack and equipment, anatomy, nutrition, behavior and training, and various breeds. Detailed sketches accompany many of the definitions. Though not as comprehensive as Vivienne Eby's The Horse Dictionary (LJ 12/95), which lists over 6000 terms, this volume includes not only illustrations but a pronunciation guide, both lacking in Eby's book. It is also easier to use than Maria Belknap's Horsewords (LJ 3/1/98), though Belknap's book, unlike this one, has listings of well-known personalities and events in the equine community. A worthwhile purchase for libraries needing another equine dictionary; horse enthusiasts will want to purchase their own copies.?Deborah Emerson,, Monroe Community Coll. Lib., Rochester, NY
