5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it...
Even though it did not have an English to Italian section as one reviewer complained, I still found this book to be very entertaining and informative. It is chock full of useful colloquialisms and it was a nice break from the usual "high school" type Italian one usually learns from instructional language books. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a...

Please ... don't use these words. we don't use them in Italy. There are some words in the book that we actually use but are less then 300. And if you are gonna use some of those 300, be careful ... you can receive a fist in your face

4.0 out of 5 stars x.o., January 29, 2005
This review is from: Dictionary of Italian Slang and Colloquial Expressions (Paperback)
Most of the reviews I see here are incredibly bizzare!! People critiquing the book as if it were a serious language dictionary, complaining it's only english to italian etc.! The book is meant to entertain with all kinds of slang terms, most a little dirty or crazy. Very, very entertaining it is!. Check it out - especially if you already know some italian and can read the phrases aloud to your friends with gusto! It's hialrious

3.0 out of 5 stars Use with caution!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Dictionary of Italian Slang and Colloquial Expressions (Paperback)
This compilation is fun to read, but as someone who is learning Italian and visits Italy frequently, I have to say that as a resource for speaking, it has its limitations. Before using any of these sayings, it is most important to stop and consider whom you are speaking with, b/c most the phrases in this dictionary are either raunchy or insulting, more slang than colloquialisms. I find it more helpful when trying to figure out what Italians are saying to each other when it's clear that they are being rude.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dictionary of Italian Slang, March 19, 2000

Buyer Beware: There is no English to Italian section in this dictionary as there are in normal academic foreign language dictionaries. i.e. There are ONLY Italian Slang to English translations.

1.0 out of 5 stars È succhia!, October 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It sucks! Beyond the fact that it lacks many common slang words, it is missing an English index. A waste of money.

This book is great if you can hear Italian natives speak, and actually understand what they have said, otherwise it's useless with no English to Italian section. Sure you can pick a random word and find out what it means in English but who wants to do that?
