Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra state in India. Old Marathi is the "classical" written form of the language as it appears in the abundant literature and inscriptions dating from around 1000 to 1350 B.C.E. For Marathi people interested in evolution of their language or linguistic heritage of the bhakti movement of the Deccan, it is a good book. It shows examples of word use (vakyaat upayog) and explanations in English and current Marathi. It has a very good list of Marathi words that have either fallen out of favor in this century, or are used in a very modified form currently. You can read books like Dnyaneshwari / Dasbodh by keeping this book beside you.
