A source for some information,
By
This review is from: The Dictionary Of Philosophy (Philosophical Library: Concise Dictionaries) (Paperback)
This work contains some interesting information, and can be used as a source in researching particular topics. But it , in my opinion, was never really comprehensive enough. And having had its most recent edition close to fifty years ago is not up-to- date.

Not up to date, but very good.,
This review is from: The Dictionary Of Philosophy (Philosophical Library: Concise Dictionaries) (Paperback)
As far as I can tell, this book has not been updated since the publication of the 15th edition in 1960. Nevertheless, although it is not up to date I would not call it "outdated," since it provides a snapshot the philosophical concerns of its day. In this respect, it is especially helpful when one is reading anglo-american philosophy of the early twentieth-century. It is also quite good, in my opinion, in terms of achieving the appropriate balance of breadth and depth for a philosophical dictionary.

Mid-20th Century Classic, Not to be Over-looked,

This review is from: The Dictionary Of Philosophy (Philosophical Library: Concise Dictionaries) (Paperback)
The Dictionary of Philosophy by Dagobert D. Runes (Philosophical Library: Concise Dictionaries: Citadel Press) (Hardcover) For many years a non parallel Dictionary of philosophy, it still holds up especially in logic and mid-twentieth century assessment of philosophical debate. Not to be over-looked.
