This is a tremendous resource for theological and historical research about Christian worship and liturgical practices. The articles are comprehensive and quite informative. Many topics that are not easily researched will be covered in this research volume. It presents many topics as they are percieved differently in different epochs and is quite scholarly in its presentation.

This review is from: The New Dictionary of Sacramental Worship (Reference Works) (Hardcover)
The New Dictionary of Sacramental Worship, Edited by Fr. Peter Fink, S.J., (Collegeville, Minnesota:The Liturgical Press,1990)remains an excellent guide for those studying the the Sacraments of the Church or the liturgy. Its articles are of a very high quality, and most helpful to the student who may not have time to read many long books. They are written by the foremost writers on sacramental worship in English-speaking world; they are short and readable. The governing idea of the compilation is that the study of the sacraments needs to be approached from the point of view of liturgical theology. Its stated aim is both to celebrate and serve the ongoing task of liturgical reform and renewal.
