Covers over 2,500 pen names, nick names & initials of writers on most field sports, natural history in its many branches, and related subjects. Fully annotated. Each pen name identification includes (when known) the author's full name, birth & death dates, book and article titles by that author, periodicals written for, quotes relating to use of the pen name, and occasional biographical details. A unique feature of this dictionary is the documentation of sources for each attribution, with extensive use of quotes concerning the author, his or her pen name, how the name came to be used, etc. The first section of the book is arranged by pen names. The second section is an alphabetical index of author's real names and all of the pen names used by that author. This is followed by two cross indexed lists of sources, one arranged numerically and keyed to source numbers following each attribution, the other is arranged alphabetically. Printed in a large, easy to use format, 8.5" x 11". 305 pages, printed on acid free paper. Bound in red cloth, gilt titles.
