Book Description

1989 Adamantine studies in library science & information technology
This second edition of the comprehensive dictionary has been expanded and enhanced to over 65,000 terms (more than twice than in the first edition) for all the major engineering fields. Arranged in a clear, practical format, it is a convenient research tool that is invaluable to engineers, researchers, scientists, technicians, students, technical writers, and others using engineering literature. A unique new section lists abbreviations and acronyms used for journals and magazines in science and engineering.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Technical dictionaries tend to be either too general, attempting to cover all fields, or too narrowly specialized. This new reference is an effort to narrow the choice of terms somewhat, yet is still broad enough in scope to cover all fields of engineering. The more than 30,000 entries are arranged in alphabetical order, and in some cases there are parenthetical notations which specify usage is limited to a particular country, agency, etc. In the introduction, the compilers explain their list of fields covered, as well as their methodology for assembling the database used in producing this work. Their effort appears to have paid off. With the promise of regular updates, this has the potential to become a standard reference in engineering and other technical collections.
