Book Description

Joseph Lorick was one of the many children born in an America that was addicted to debt. He grew up in an environment that fostered a reliance on debt to achieve the American dream, and only realized as an adult that this mind frame would lead to future financial hardships and an extended retirement. His experiences in banking and as a debt removal adviser helped him realize that the financial issues he and many others have experienced can be tied to his upbringing, and can only be fixed by addressing issues created well before adulthood. He also believes to lessen the impact of debt dependency within America, we must teach today's youth how to avoid a future filled with debt problems. These writings offer solutions to these issues.

While some may think D.E.B.T. "Did Everything But Think" is a catchy title, it offers much more to readers. It is an all-inclusive guide to avoiding debt traps, while on the path of financial freedom. Lorick approaches personal financial management from a social awareness point of view, using unheard stories to expose the culture of debt that dominates the U.S. economy. He points out the various influential factors that lead to increasing debt over a lifetime. This book provides all readers, despite their past, with the tools needed to obtain financial freedom. Did Everything But Think has little to do momentary lapses in judgment. It addresses the real problem of undervaluing the importance financial stability and its relationship to obtaining lifestyle dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Pass Up! July 25, 2012

Format:Paperback
This book is a concise yet thorough guide to understanding money and mending past money problems and mistakes. I definitely recommend that college students recovering from less than stellar credit and loan situations get this. It's not the usual "don't buy this, don't buy that" advice! You'll be glad you read it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Undertanding Debt December 1, 2012
Format:Paperback
Debt is something that can be avoided if individuals learn about it early. If parents teach their children finances while in high school it will carry over into their adult life. Joseph Lorick explains all there is to know in Did Everything But Think. This 15-chaptered guidebook will help readers learn how to stay clear of debt and how to get out of debt. I am sure everyone would love to be debt free.

Lorick starts with a brief history of generational handling of finances. The book covers several topics such as the different influences that may cause debt, how to buy your first car, when to move out of your parents' home and the difference between renting and having a mortgage. I enjoyed these particular chapters because they opened my eyes on how to avoid making mistakes when it comes to big decisions. The author's examples and scenarios provide readers with a clearer picture as he explains different levels of finances.

The author takes a different approach in sharing valuable information by using storytelling techniques along with personal experiences. I appreciated the sample budgeting worksheets that can be used as a tool to start readers on their journey to financial freedom. This was a helpful book that should be shared with high school and college students. I recommend this book to others.

This book is simply spectacular. I wish I had knew the things written in this book when I was 17 before I ever incurred any debt. I'd dare say this book should be mandatory reading for ever highschool senior in America. Lorick writes in a down to earth easy to understand natural voice and exposes all sorts of things any one would want to know about how to set up a solid financial life. Plus its a quick read which makes it even better. My hat goes off to lorick for this book, its excellent.
