Book Description

May 23, 2011
What wife hasn’t second-guessed herself after a heated discussion or yet another curious incident of the missing remote control? In addition to the title’s question, this book discusses those unspoken thoughts lurking in the back of even Christian women’s minds, such as: • We’ve Grown Apart • I’m Just Not That Into Sex • I Miss the Thrill of Being Single • I Love My Husband, but I’m Not In Love • Watching My Parents Probably Messed Me Up While these silent ponderings might seem harmless, they have the potential to create a negative undercurrent of resentment if not specifically addressed in prayer. Stimpson tackles tough questions about wifehood in this short, humorous book of wisdom for the not-so-in-love-with-my-husband days.

This review is from: Did I Marry the Wrong Guy?: And Other Silent Ponderings of a Fairly Normal Christian Woman (Paperback)
The shipment came as promised; in excellent condition. Reading the book, however; was kind of a disappointment...I wasn't encouraged at all by reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars You're Not Alone!, June 14, 2011

This book was a gift from a friend. As a fan of Michelle Stimpson's fiction, I was curious to see a different side of the writer. I wasn't disappointed!

To be sure, "Did I Marry the Wrong Guy" is not a how-to manual. This is simply the musings of a woman in a marriage who is saying out loud what many of us have thought for years. In fact, I could have easily written most of the chapters in the book.

What's refreshing about this book is that it doesn't tell you how to fix your husband. It doesn't preach or pander to you or make you question your faith. What it does do is show you that dealing with your spouse on a day-to-day basis can be equally funny and frustrating. In clear, simple language, Michelle gives a word of encouragement, advice and a prayer to help you put things in perspective.

This is a great book for book clubs, engaged and newly married women, as well as for those of us in it for the long haul. It's a quick, fun read, with great resources at the end.

If you're looking for a profound discussion on marital issues, this not your book. But if you're looking for a light-hearted look as to how survive a snoring spouse (among other things), this is the book for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Changed my perspective, June 1, 2011

This book was an eye opener for me and definitely changed my perspective on my marriage. Kudos to Michelle Stimpson for putting it out there and sharing with the rest of us faceless nameless spouses who have pondered that thought. It was laugh out loud funny and she hits some 'yeah we gonna go there' subjects. The chapters are short and to the point. There is a wealth of resources to check out at the end of the book, and prayers and the end of each chapter. I recommended this book to a family member and she couldn't thank me enough. Its nice to know that you're not in it alone and the author provides very insightful counsel. This book is truly a blessing for me. Before 'checking out' of marriage, check out this book.
